Aggies Continue Big West Play Against CSUN and Cal State Fullerton

DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis women's basketball team (5-8, 1-2 Big West) will host CSUN (4-10, 3-1 Big West) on Jan. 11, looking for back-to-back conference victories. The Aggies will cap off the weekend on Jan. 14 at Cal State Fullerton (6-7, 1-3 Big West).

LAST WEEK
The Aggies dropped Thursday night's contest to conference leaders UC Irvine, 67-38. UC Davis bounced back on Saturday afternoon and used an explosive second half to down CSU Bakersfield, 60-43. Evanne Turner led the way with 21 points and five three-pointers while Tess Sussman turned in a stellar performance with 11 points and eight rebounds.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Aggies lead the all-time series against CSUN 30-17 and hold a 17-5 advantage on their home court. UC Davis swept both conference tilts a season ago, earning a 48-41 win in Northern California before prevailing 58-50 in Northridge.

UC Davis also holds the advantage (23-12) in the all-time series against Cal State Fullerton. The Aggies have posted an impressive record on the road, winning 13 of their 16 contests in Fullerton. The two teams split the season series in 2021-22, with UC Davis falling 69-65 on the road before defeating the Titans 70-42 at the University Credit Union Center.

ABOUT THE MATADORS
CSUN is coming off its first defeat in Big West play after a narrow 53-52 loss to UC Riverside. A jump shot in the dying seconds lifted the Highlanders over the Matadors, and CSUN would fall to 4-10 overall and 3-1 in Big West action. Forward Tess Amundsen leads the team with 13.6 points-per-game, which is the fifth-best mark in the conference. Jordyn Jackson was the team's leading scorer in their most recent contest, racking up 14 points in 39 minutes.

ABOUT THE TITANS
Cal State Fullerton has dropped four of its last five games, as the Titans have struggled to gain their footing in conference play. The Titans' last victory came on Jan. 5 against UC Riverside. Fujika Nimmo is the team's leading scorer at 15.2 points-per-game which ranks second in the Big West, just 0.7 behind Evanne Turner.
 
GROSS MOVES UP THE LADDER
With the win over William Jessup on Dec. 15, Jennifer Gross earned her 205th victory as head coach of the Aggies. With her win over CSU Bakersfield on Jan. 7, Gross tallied win number 206 and now stands alone in second place on the all-time wins list.
 
CLEANING UP THE GLASS
The Aggies lead the Big West Conference in defensive rebounds-per-game (27.8) and sit third in rebounding margin (1.4). Tess Sussman leads the team at 5.8 boards-per-game.
 
RETURN TO SENDER
Megan Jones continues to lead the Big West Conference in blocks (27) and blocks per game (2.1). Jones ranks 33rd in the nation in blocks per game.
  
NEXT TIME OUT
The Aggies return to the University Credit Union Center to host UC San Diego on Jan. 16 before heading south to UC Riverside on Jan. 19.
