UC Davis battles USC to close out 2022 season

Los Angeles, Calif. - UC Davis wrapped up the 2022 season on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-12 to USC in Los Angeles.

Kendall Seifert led the way for the Aggies, scoring three goals for her sixth hat trick of the season and giving her a score in all 13 games this season.

Alex Agnew had a goal and two assists, finishing the season with 37 assists to tie her with Amanda Outcalt for the second most in a season in school history. Outcat accomplished the feat in 2019. Agnew now has 61 assists through the first three seasons of her career, eighth all-time.

Grace Gebhardt scored her 23rd goal of the season and Brooke Long her career-best fifth goal.

UC Davis had the first score of the game, a goal by Seifert with Regan Arkless on the assist to open scoring at the 13:00 mark of the first quarter before the Trojans scored four straight. Agnew scored shortly after an Aggie timeout to get within 2-4 at the end of the first and the teams alternated the next four scores in the game that saw UC Davis then trail 4-6 with 4:47 until the half.

The Trojans went on another run of four unanswered though to create breathing room up 4-10 and held the Aggies off the scoreboard in the second half until Seifert scored with 9:40 left in the fourth quarter.

The Aggies finish the season at 5-8 and will graduate five seniors in Ally Deremer, Natalie Wilson, Annie Dalton, Seifert, and Long. Agnew, third-leading scorer Ella Brislin, and fourth-leading scorer Grace Gebhardt will each return in 2023.
