DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis women's tennis avenged its loss yesterday with two wins on Saturday at the Mayra Welch Tennis Center. The Aggies downed Holy Names, 7-0, and then beat Santa Clara, 5-2

UC Davis breezed past Holy Names in the morning contest, winning the doubles point and all four singles matches in straight sets. Freshman Claire Galerkin and sophomore Michelle Zell secure the victory at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.

The Aggies bounced back against WCC opponent Santa Clara, claiming the doubles point and digging down to win three singles competitions in three sets. Sophomore Carly Schwartzberg won at No. 6 in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (6).

After Santa Clara rallied to take a 2-1 lead, Schwartzberg's victory ignited four in a row for UC Davis.

Senior Sara Tsukamoto downed Finley Kalinic, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot before junior Yana Gurevich took down Jenna Marie Gordon at No. 2, 1-6, 7-6, 6-3. Sophomore Olive Maunupau closed out the afternoon with a victory at No. 4, handling Velizara Fileva, 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-3. 

The Aggies will hit the road for two straight Big West showdowns. UC Davis will face Cal Poly on Feb. 20 and then play UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 21.
