Biography

2023-24:  Posted a 9-14 overall singles record that includes an even 4-4 record in conference competitions… Spent time at courts 1-4, with a majority of the season on court 4… Clinched for the Aggies 4 different times this season… Teamed up with Carly Schwartzberg for all 17 doubles matches, finishing with a 6  victories during the season… Went 2-3 in conference play, picking up wins against UC Irvine and CSUN.

2022-23:
 ITA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE... BIG WEST HONOR ROLL HIGHEST HONORS... BIG WEST CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM… Posted an even 10-10 overall singles record that includes a 4-4 record in conference competitions… Spent time at all positions except court no. 1, and went 4-2 on court no. 4… Won four straight matches from February 19 - March 4… Teamed up with Carly Schwartzberg for all 18 doubles matches, finishing with a 10-8 record… The duo dominated in conference play with a 5-1 record and won five consecutive doubles matches from March 31 - April 12.

2021-22: ITA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE... Compiled a spring singles record of 4-3… Finished with a 6-2 mark in doubles, primarily on the No. 3 court… Majority of the doubles victories came with teammate Carly Schwartzberg, where the tandem finished 4-1 on the season… The tandem won their last three matches on the year.

2021: ITA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE... ALL BIG-WEST DOUBLES HONORABLE MENTION… Posted a 4-10 singles record… Won two matches at No. 3 and split four matches played at No. 4… Won 10 of 16 doubles matches… That win total is a team-high figure… Split eight matches played at No. 1, won three of four at No. 2 and seven of 12 at No. 2… Every doubles match took place alongside Shirley Hall… Recorded a team-high five-match doubles win streak with victories at San Francisco (3/13), at Santa Clara (3/23), at Cal State Fullerton (3/27), at CSUN (3/28) and at home against Hawai’i (4/11)… Won the last two doubles matches of the season at UC Irvine (4/25), the team’s regular season finale, and vs. Hawai’i (4/29) at the Big West Championships… Earned three-set singles victories at San Francisco and at Cal State Fullerton, sweeping her individual matches played each day… Recorded straight-set singles victories at Sacramento State (2/21) and at UC San Diego (4/24), each by matching 6-1, 6-1 scores... Due to COVID-19, the Aggies did not compete in any fall events.

FOOTHILL HS ’20
Led the Knights to two Crestview League team titles, and finished her high school career as a two-time league MVP, and reached the individual league final all three years, claiming two championship crowns... Competed in the No. 1 singles position in all three of her seasons with the program... Earned Team MVP awards as a freshman and sophomore... Named Crestview League MVP as a junior... After earning second plave league singles honors as a freshman, she finished her sophomore and junior years as the conference's No. 1 player... Advanced to the CIF Round of 16 in her final two years at FHS... Scholar-Athlete and Principle's Honor Roll award recipient each year... Foothill High School's tennis team posted a cumulative 54-10 record throughout Zell's three-year career... 

PERSONAL
Four-star recruit hails from Tustin, California… Held a 35-18 record, with a dominant 15-8 record over fellow four-stars according to TennisRecruiting.net when she signed with the Aggies... On a national scale, Zell was No. 87 in the country in her recruiting class, and No. 16 in California, earning a spot on the Hot 100 list in March of 2018 (TennisRecruiting.net)... Parents are Michael and Magda...She has one sister Michelle...Of all the places she competed in, Indian Wells is her favorite facility... Being named a top recruit during her senior year is her career sports highlight... How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is her favorite movie... Victoria Azarenka is her sports hero... Non-sports hero is her dad... Career plans include a position in the financial industry, perhaps as an accountant... Hiking, yoga and spending time with her friends are her hobbies... She chose UC Davis because of the coaching staff and beautiful campus.
