COACHES...
UC DAVIS: Five-time Big West Conference Coach of the Year Jennifer Gross is in her 12th year (19th overall at UC Davis) with a record of 201-126 (.615) overall and 115-57 (.669) in the Big West.
BETHEL COLLEGE (KS): Derrick Pringle Jr. is in his second season as head coach with a record of 11-24 overall and an 8-16 mark in KCAC play.

ABOUT THE THRESHERS: Bethel College (KS) enters the year off a 10-21 campaign in 2021-22. The Threshers started their 2022-23 campaign with losses against Northwestern College and Simpson University but have rebounded with a road victory at CSU Maritime. In the 83-68 victory over the Keelhaulers, senior Jasmine Peete recorded a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Three other Threshers scored in double-figures as well in the win.

SERIES NOTES: Monday marks the first-ever official meeting between the two programs in women's basketball.

FOR OPENERS: According to records dating back to 1977-78, UC Davis is 27-21 all time in season opening contests. The Aggies open at home for the third straight season and are 33-12 in home openers in that same span, including a 5-4 mark as a Division I program when opening the season at home.

A LOOK BACK – UC DAVIS 76, SAN FRANCISCO STATE 51: Junior Evanne Turner finished with a team-high 17 points, helping lift the host Aggies to a 76-51 exhibition victory over visiting San Francisco State on Nov. 1 at the University Credit Union Center. Sophomore center Megan Norris was the other Aggie who finished in double figures, collecting 12 points. The Aggies' defense did not allow any Gators players to get in double figures.

PRESEASON POLL: The UC Davis women's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the league standings, according to a vote by the league's coaches.

TURN IT UP: UC Davis junior guard Evanne Turner was named to the coach's preseason All-Big West team. The 2022 All-Big West Honorable Mention is coming off her best season, starting all 28 games for the Aggies last year, averaging 12.6 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game in over 32 minutes per game. The native of Fontana, Calif. set career-highs in point, assist, steal and three-pointer averages while missing just four three throws all season.

THREE FOR ALL: The Aggies carry a significant streak into the 2022-23 season thanks to their prowess beyond the arc. UC Davis has hit at least one three-pointer in 566 consecutive games dating back to Feb. 15, 2003, at Cal State San Bernardino. It is believed to be the fourth-longest active streak of its kind in the nation, trailing only Iowa State (860 games since 1995), Chattanooga (707 games since 1999), and Milwaukee (607 games since 2002) as of Nov. 7, 2022.

RETURNER STATS: The Aggies return 46.0% of their scoring from the 2021-22 season, including 57.8% of the team's three-point scoring.

A TALL ORDER: Lena Svanholm, who stands 6-foot-6, is believed to be the second-tallest in the history of the program, trailing only 6-foot-8 Kelly Ditto, who was a three-year letter winner for the Aggies in 1999 and 2001-02.

A "GOLDEN" OPPORTUNITY: This year's Causeway battle with rival Sacramento State will have a different look to it as the Aggies and Hornets will take the floor at the Golden 1 Center -- home of the NBA's Sacramento Kings -- on Nov. 22 at 5 p.m.

NEW AGGIES: Four new Aggies will make their UC Davis debuts, featuring three transfers (Tess Sussman, Tova Sabel, and Victoria Baker) and one freshman (Nya Epps).

ALL SHE DOES IS WIN: With the Aggies 70-42 win in Mar. 5's 2021-22 regular season finale, Gross became only the fifth head coach in Big West Conference history to hit the 200-victory plateau as a member of the league and, with 115 Big West triumphs.

AGGIE STORYLINES…
• UC Davis returns 10 letter winners and three starters off of last season's squad that finished 15-13 overall -- it's seventh consecutive winning season -- and 8-8 in Big West Conference play.
• The Aggies won five consecutive Big West regular season titles (2017-2021), making them one of only two schools in league history to accomplish such a feat (UC Santa Barbara from 1996-2005).
• UC Davis were one of four schools to have won at least five straight conference regular season titles: UConn (7 in the American Athletic Conference, 1 in the BIG EAST), Baylor (11 in the Big 12), and Gonzaga (5 in the West Coast Conference).
• UC Davis is a combined 72-18 in Big West play over the last six years entering the 2022-23 season.
• UC Davis became the sixth program in conference history to win at least three Big West Tournament titles and the first repeat champion since 2014-15.
• Head Coach Jennifer Gross won the five consecutive Big West Coach of the Year awards -- the first time in conference history that has happened -- and stands behind only Mark French of UCSB (7) for the most in league history.
• With her 12 years at the helm, Gross is tied for the second-longest tenured head coach in school history with Pam Gill-Fisher.
• Gross' 201 wins ranks third in school history and fifth in league history, while her 115 league wins stand fifth in the Big West annals. She trails only Simpson (251) and Jorja Hoehn (205) in school lore.
• UC Davis' trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2021 marked the program's eighth postseason appearance in 14 years as a Division I program. The team's No. 12 seed in the tournament was the highest in program history and the highest for any Big West school since 2004 ( UC Santa Barbara - No. 11).
