IRVINE, Calif. – UC Davis sophomore Brianna Weidler was officially named the Big West 2022 Cross Country Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Friday.

Weidler became the first Aggie on the women's side to win the individual title at the championship meet since Sarah Sumpter in 2009. Thomas Madden won the individual men's title in 2017, also in Riverside.

The Temecula native ran away from the entire field at the Agricultural Operations 6k Cross Country Course in a time of 19:28.6, over 20-seconds faster than the runner-up.

The Aggies finished third overall at the championship meet with 90 points. The NCAA West Regional is set for Friday, Nov. 11 and will be hosted by the University of Washington at Chambers Creek Regional Park.
