DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis junior Shira Lahav was named The Big West Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

For Lahav, it is her second defensive player of the week honor this season and fourth career defensive player of the week accolade with her last earned recognition on Oct. 3, 2022.

Lahav did her part turning away opposing offenses while helping in key moments transitioning into offense as well over the week, collecting 32 digs across two conference games against UC Riverside and Hawai'i. Lahav also tallied eight set assists and served up an ace over the week.

The native of Bat Hefer, Israel has posted double-digit digs in 18 matches this season, including seven straight conference games. Playing in all 22 games in the 2022 campaign, Lahav leads the Aggies with 336 digs, 3.86 digs per set and 24 service aces. Earlier this month, Lahav eclipsed the 1,000-dig plateau.
