AGGIES RIDE FOUR MATCH UNBEATEN STREAK INTO FINAL CONFERENCE WEEK
UC Davis heads to conference leader UC Santa Barbara for a key match in terms of teams jockeying for Big West Conference Championship seedings. The Aggies are currently tied at the No. 2 spot with Cal State Fullerton at 3-1-2. The Gauchos are 3-0-2, riding a five-match unbeaten streak. The Tritons are 3-3 in conference play, racing past Cal Poly in their last time out.
AGGIES HOT AT THE RIGHT TIME
Once the calendar hit October, the Aggies came to life. In the final month of the regular season UC Davis is 3-1-1, sporting two shutouts and only surrendering two goals in the five matches.
UC SANTA BARBARA HISTORY
UC Davis met UCSB twice last season, with the last match going to double overtime in the Big West Tournament semifinals where the Gauchos pulled out a 1-0 victory. Earlier in the season, UCSB downed UCD in Davis, 4-1. The Aggies last took down the Gauchos in the 2019 Big West Tournament Championship Game, 2-0. The last Aggie victory in Santa Barbara came in 2017, where UC Davis boasted a 5-0 victory.
UC SAN DIEGO HISTORY
The matchup will be just the fifth between the two programs as the Aggies down the Tritons, 1-0 last season in La Jolla. Prior to the 2021 meeting, the two teams hadn't played each other since 2003. UCSD holds a 2-1-2 all-time series lead.
SENIOR DAY
UC Davis will celebrate three seniors in the final regular season home match on Saturday against UC San Diego.
Emmanuel Doherty,
Max Glasser and
Andy Velasquez will be recognized. The trio has contributed to 37 wins and a Big West title entering this week. Combined the trio has suited up for 173 games in an Aggie uniform.
ONE GOAL GAMES
All but two of UC Davis' 12 games have been decided by one goal with three of those being 0-0 draws. The Aggies have allowed one goal or less in their last eight contests, including four clean sheets.
ANOTHER FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK ADDS TO THE AGGIE YOUTH MOVEMENT
Twin brothers, two of the Goodman family quadruplets to be exact, Luke and
Cason Goodman have been at the forefront of the youth movement the Aggies have experienced in 2022.
Luke Goodman continues to lead the Aggies in minutes played through 14 games at 1,121...The last time a freshman led UC Davis in minutes in a season was Brian Ford in 2011...Ford started all 19 games and played 1,814 minutes that season...Goodman is also the only true freshman on the team to start in eight games.
The other half of the Goodman duo, Cason, was named the Big West Freshman of the Week on Sept. 26 after scoring his first career goal against Pacific on Sept. 20. Cason is tied for the team lead with five points and two goals.
Overall, UC Davis has nabbed four Freshman of the Week honors this season. On Monday,
Andrew Dutra earned the honor and on Oct. 10, Luke joined his brother on the award list.
Marcus Garcia won in the opening week of the season.
NEW LINEUPS
23 of UC Davis' 25 players to appear in a game this season have started at least one game with senior
