SEATTLE, Wash. — Redshirt freshman Talin Morgan established a UC Davis Division I-era single-game record with 12 saves as the Aggies fell to Washington, 4-0, Saturday night at Husky Soccer Stadium.
Morgan surpassed the previous Division I-era mark of nine saves, set by Wallis Lapsley against Saint Mary's on Sept. 22, 2018.
Washington (3-2-1) opened the scoring at 10:40 when Callum Lugton finished a sequence assisted by Asher Hestad and Cameron Cruz. Osato Enabulele doubled the lead at 22:20 off a feed from Emmett Layman before Zach Ramsey converted a penalty kick at 35:23 to send the Huskies into halftime ahead 3-0.
Morgan made five saves during the opening half and added seven after halftime. He turned away two attempts during the first seven minutes of the second period before Ramsey scored his second goal at 55:17, assisted by Kevin Hernandez and Connor Lofy. Morgan made five additional saves following the final goal.
UC Davis (0-4-2) created the first shot on goal of the match when Ronaldo Melgoza forced a save at 5:37. Gunner Parker sent an attempt high in the 44th minute, Gabe Sanchez put a shot on target at 63:28 and Nico Collins followed with an attempt wide in the 68th.
The Aggies return to Aggie Soccer Field at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, against San Francisco.
