Emma Otsu garnered Mountain Pacific Sports Federation weekly accolades, the conference office announced Tuesday. Kessler was named the Gymnast of the Week for the second straight week while Otsu garnered Specialist of the Week honors. The awards mark the third straight week that the Aggies have been recognized.
Kessler earns the Gymnast of the Week honors for the third time in her career and for the second straight week while Otsu nabbed Specialist of the Week for the second time this season.
The Fremont, Calif., native finished second in the all-around with a score of 39.225. Her all-around score marked the ninth time in her career that she has topped the 39-point mark. The all-around score was her highest since she tied her career high of 39.250 at Washington on March 9, 2018.
Kessler set season highs on vault and bars while her 9.80-floor score was her highest since a 9.80 against California on March 11, 2018.
Otsu shared third place on beam with a career-best 9.90, equaling the MPSF season-high and tying for 12th all-time in the conference. The sophomore also equaled a season-best with a 9.80 on the vault.
The Aggies continue on the road as they travel to Colorado Springs to face Air Force and Alaska Anchorage on Sunday, Jan. 30.
