NEWS & NOTABLES: UC Davis takes on a pair of front-runners in the Big West Conference standings this week on its home floor as the Aggies play host to first-place Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, before welcoming third-place Long Beach State to the University Credit Union Center. The Titans share the top spot in the league at 4-0 along with Hawai'i, while the Beach is tied for third along with UC Riverside at 3-1. The cancelations continued for the UC Davis men's basketball team, which lost its fifth game of the year due to COVID health and safety protocols when its contest at UC Santa Barbara last Saturday was squashed. All was not lost, however, as the Aggies pressed on and pulled away late for a 64-47 win at CSUN on Thursday for their first Big West Conference win of the year in only their second official conference contest of the 2021-22 campaign. Four players finished in double figures for UC Davis, led by Christian Anigwe's 16 points and eight rebounds, while Ezra Manjon (14 points), Elijah Pepper (13), and Caleb Fuller (13), joined him in double figures.
