NEWS & NOTABLES: After a pair of cancellations last week, the UC Davis women's tennis team will now open its championship season on Thursday at Stanford. The match will begin at 2 p.m. and be held at the Taube Family Tennis Center. Senior
Sara Tsukamoto – one of only two seniors on this year's roster – and junior
Yana Gurevich finished their respective fall seasons with a 6-3 mark in singles play, while freshman
Arianna Stavropoulos took home four victories in singles during the fall season. Tsukamoto and Gurevich were All-Big West Conference selections a season ago, with Tsukamoto earning second-team singles and first-team doubles honors and Gurevich joining her teammate on the singles second team.

NEWS & NOTABLES: Having lost four of their six Big West Conference contests since the start of the league schedule in late December, the UC Davis women's basketball team looks forward to returning to the court at home this week, welcoming UC Santa Barbara and CSUN to the University Credit Union Center on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. The Aggies haven't played since Jan. 8 at UC San Diego after last week's contests with CSU Bakersfield and Cal Poly were declared "no contests" due to COVID health and safety protocols within those two programs. Prior to that, UC Davis hadn't played a game since Dec. 19 after scheduled league openers against UC Riverside and Hawai'i were also scratched. Senior Cierra Hall continues to lead the way for the Aggies, averaging 13.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 41 percent from the floor, while sophomore Evanne Turner is also in double figures at 10.2 ppg and a team-high 24 three-pointers.

NEWS & NOTABLES: Like their counterparts on the women's side, the UC Davis men's team has also lost four of their first five Big West Conference contests to start the league slate, losing out on its game against CSU Bakersfield last week before falling to Cal Poly on the road in its official Big West opener – the team's first game since a win over UC San Diego on Jan. 8. Junior Christian Anigwe had a career night against the Mustangs, finishing with 20 points and 13 rebounds – nine of those boards on the offensive glass. Elijah Pepper (16), Ezra Manjon (16), and Kane Milling (12), also finished in double figures, but the Aggies could not overcome a Cal Poly team that shot 49 percent for the game and hit 26-of-32 from the line – 20 more attempts UC Davis on the night.

NEWS & NOTABLES: It's a busy weekend in Southern California for the UC Davis men's tennis team, which plays five matches in three days beginning Friday morning with a stop at No. 9 USC. The Aggies take on Biola later that afternoon, before facing the College of the Desert and Hope International on Saturday, along with WCC rival Loyola Marymount on Sunday morning before heading home. The five duals marks the first action for UC Davis since the Aggies took on the field at the Pacific Fall Invitational in early November. The freshmen duo of

UC Davis is coming off a convincing victory over Causeway rival Sacramento State. NEWS & NOTABLES: Picked to finish in a tie for fourth in the Big West Conference according to the preseason coaches poll, the Aggies hit the pool for the first time in 2022 on Saturday at the Schaal Aquatics Center, hosting three other teams for the Aggie Invite beginning at 10 a.m. Fresno Pacific, Cal State East Bay, and Cal State Monterey Bay, join UC Davis in the four-match event. The Aggies are coming off a 2021 campaign that saw them finish 11-8 overall and 2-3 in Big West play before falling to Long Beach State in the opening round of the conference tournament. Senior
Noelle Wijnbelt leads the Aggie returners after picking up her third ACWPC All-America honor last season, leading the Big West with 35 goals while shooting .593 on the year. Senior attacker
Emily Aikema, a Big West honorable mention choice in 2021, also returns after leading the league with 47 points and a league-high 25 assists. Senior utility
Alyssa Lengtat also returns after finishing second on the team with 25 goals. The junior 1-2 punch of
Sophia Noble and
Nellie McAdams also return in net. Noble started 13 matches, posting an 8.4 goals against average, 10.5 saves per game, and a .556 save percentage, while McAdams finished with an 8.0 goals against average, 9.5 saves per match, and a .545 save percentage, in nine contests (six starts).
