Theodore, Korthouwer net goals in 2-1 win

UC Davis clips Saint Louis to begin three-game Midwest road trip

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Senior midfielders Madison Theodore and Milou Korthouwer each scored goals while Izzy Porco and Audrey Matthew tallied assists in leading UC Davis to a 2-1 victory against Saint Louis in a non-conference collegiate field hockey game held on the campus of Ohio State Tuesday afternoon.

The Aggies pick up their first win of the year, moving to 1-2 overall.

Theodore put UC Davis on the board with a back-handed shot just 3:09 into the contest, then Korthouwer, Matthew and Porco teamed up for a goal on a short corner in the 29th minute, extending the lead to 2-0 going into halftime. SLU's Emily Wastell halved the edge with a goal just 30 seconds into the second half, but the Aggies protected their cage the rest of the way.

UC Davis outshot the Billikens by a 16-4 margin and enjoyed seven short-corner opportunities compared to SLU's one. Furthermore, the Aggie defense prevented any Saint Louis shots after Kalli Wagnon saved a Lotte Tenuissen attempt in the 40th minute.

The Aggies remain in the Buckeye State for a road game at Ohio on Wednesday. First push back is 11 a.m. PDT.
