DAVIS, Calif. — Senior
Audrey Matthew scored with 14 seconds remaining in the game to put UC Davis on the board, but the Aggies were ultimately no match for No. 4 Northwestern, falling by a 7-1 final in non-conference action at the Aggie Field Hockey Facility Friday night.
The Aggies move to 3-3 for the year. The Wildcats remain unbeaten at 7-0.
Maren Seidel and Liese Wareham each scored two for Northwestern, which outshot UC Davis by a 27-4 margin. In fact, no Aggie even managed an attempt until
Brooke Sanchez fired a shot with 3:11 left in the second quarter.
UC Davis spoiled its guest's shutout bid in the 60th minute when
Madison Theodore fed Matthew in front of the cage for the goal.
Junior
Kalli Wagnon posted eight saves against the seven goals in front of the Aggies' goal.
UC Davis returns to action at home on Sunday against Brown. Pushback is 9 a.m.
