LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — Senior
Madison Theodore and sophomore
Skylar Richards each netted two goals to lead UC Davis to a 5-1 victory at Bellarmine in collegiate field hockey action Friday. The five goals is tied for third in Aggie history and stands as the most in a single game since a 5-4 win at Ball State almost three years earlier.
UC Davis improves to 3-2 for the season.
Theodore scored both of her goals within the first seven minutes of play, then Richards put back a rebound in the 25th to craft a 3-0 Aggie lead.
Lizzy Tedrow teamed with
Izzy Porco and Gavin Shea on a goal off a short corner to extend the lead to 4-0 in the final minute of the third frame. The Knights got on the board with a goal of their own, also converting a penalty corner with 8:16 remaining, then Richards tacked on the team's fifth tally in the 59th minute of play.
The braces by Theodore and Richards are firsts by an Aggie since Gavin scored twice in a 3-2 loss at Albany last March.
UC Davis returns home to host Northwestern on Friday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m.
