FRESNO, Calif. – For the first time since March 6, 2020, UC Davis men's tennis competed in an official event when it faced Fresno State on Friday in a non-conference dual at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center — the first of back-to-back road events scheduled this weekend and the first of a season-opening three-match road swing that continues next week at Santa Clara.

After winning the doubles point, Fresno State clinched the victory by winning each of the first three singles matches that finished. After Andrei Volgin won the opening set of his singles match, 6-3, the Bulldogs' Alexey Aleschev responded by forcing a tiebreaker after winning the second set by a 6-1 score. By winning the final set of the day by a 1-0 (10-9) result, host Fresno State completed its sweep by defeating the Aggies, 7-0.

Men's tennis will return to action Saturday afternoon with its 1 p.m. matchup at Saint Mary's and will head to Moraga with a 0-1 record. Fresno State will continue its season at 1-0.
