DAVIS, Calif. -- Junior
Logan Anderson finished with a hat trick to lead a group of four Aggies with at least two goals on the day, but visiting UC San Diego used back-to-back goals to start the fourth period to build a lead it would not relinqish, as the No. 12 Tritons defeated the No. 9 Aggies, 11-10, on Saturday afternoon at Schaal Aquatic Center.
The loss dropped UC Davis to 15-8 overall and 7-1 in Western Water Polo Association play this year, ending the Aggies' 14-match winning streak in conference play. By virtue of its win over Loyola Marymount two nights earlier, however, UC Davis is still the top seed at this year's WWPA Tournament -- which it will host on Nov. 19-21.

UC San Diego, which got four goals from Vedran Latkovic and three apiece from Karlo Krmek and Calder Hilde-Jones, improved to 13-8 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
Trailing by a goal at the half, Anderson completed his hat trick midway through the third quarter to tie things up before
Connor Norton and Aleix Azanar Beltran netted back-to-back scores for an 8-7 advantage with just under three minutes remaining in the period.
Latkovic answered for the Tritons to tie the score once again, but Norton came back with a goal with 75 seconds remaining in the third for a 9-8 lead.
That would be the Aggies' last on the day as UC San Diego opened the fourth with a pair of goals 24 seconds apart by Krmek and Latkovic for a 10-9 advantage, and Calder Hilde-Jones provided what would be the difference with 41 seconds remaining.Â
Michael Plastino found the back of the cage with 26 seconds remaining, but the Tritons were able to hold on to the ball and run the clock out for the victory.Â
Plastino, Aznar Beltran, and Norton all finished with two goals on the day, while
Nir Gross added another to go wtih an assist.
Levi Murtaugh added a pair of assists, while goalkeeper
Aaron Wilson finished wtih an assist and two steals to go with his eight saves.
UC Davis closes out the regular season on Thursday (Nov. 11) with a Veteran's Day non-conference match against Pacific beginning at 7 p.m. at Schaal Aquatic Center. The Aggies' senior class will be honored prior to the match as part of "Senior Day" festivities.
