DAVIS, Calif. -- Redshirt freshman running back Lan Larison finished with 232 all-purpose yards, including a 97-yard kickoff return for the touchdown to open the second half, but visiting Eastern Washington racked up 625 yards of total offense and pulled away in the second half for a 38-20 victory over UC Davis on a foggy Saturday night at UC Davis Health Stadium
In a battle between Big Sky Conference heavyweights, the Aggies fell to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in league play. The Eagles, who outscored UC Davis 24-10 in the second half to break open four-point game at the break, improved to 8-2 and 5-2 in Big Sky.
Larison finished with 211 yards on four returns, including his burst up the middle going nearly the length of the field for the score -- the first Aggie to return a kickoff for a touchdown since Jaylin White's 100-yard return against Weber State in 2019. The 97-yarder is the fifth-longest in school history, trailing only a trio of 100-yard returns by White, Namane Modise (vs. Northern Arizona in 2017), and John Nedderman (vs. Fairfield Army Air Base in 1948), as well as Ryan Ramey's 98-yard return against Sacramento State in 2004.
Larison added two catches for 19 yards and a rushing attempt for two yards.
Quarterback Miles Hastings finished 19-for-30 for 144 yards and a touchdown to Jared Harrell to open the scoring, while Trent Tompkins led all rushers with 53 yards on nine carries, including a 35-yard burst in the second quarter that led to a field goal by Isaiah Gomez.
Jehiel Budgett led the defense with eight tackles, while five Aggies combined on four tackles for loss. Nick Eaton finished with five tackles and a pair of quarterback hurries.
UC Davis closes out the regular season at home on Nov. 20, hosting rival Sacramento State in the 67th annual Causeway Classic at 1 p.m. at UC Davis Health Stadium.
