Anigwe gets first career double-double, Les reaches career milestone in win

DAVIS, CA -- Christian Anigwe collected his first career double-double and head coach Jim Les collected a career milestone as the Aggies posted a dominant 84-76 win in Friday's home opener.

The Aggies (2-0) had three players score in double figures, led by Anigwe, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Ezra Manjon tacked on 17 points, three steals and two blocks and Elijah Pepper helped out with 15 points and two steals.

Friday's win was the 300th of Les' career, over nine years with Bradley and now in his 11th season with UC Davis.

Anigwe pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace the UC Davis offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into 18 second chance points.

The UC Davis defense caused its share of mistakes in Friday's game, forcing 19 Eastern Washington turnovers while committing 12. Those takeaways turned into 23 points on the other end of the floor. Kane Milling led the way individually for the Aggies with four steals.

After jumping out to a 35-22 advantage, UC Davis went on a 7-0 run with 3:23 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Manjon, to increase its lead to 42-22. The Aggies then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 42-26 advantage. UC Davis capitalized on 13 Eastern Washington turnovers in the period, turning them into 18 points on the other end of the floor.

UC Davis kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Manjon's jumper, to grow the lead to 52-37 with 14:37 to go in the contest. The Eagles narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Aggies still cruised the rest of the way for the 84-76 win.
