HONOLULU -- Freshman
Olivia Utterback finished with a team-high 11 kills and added five blocks on the night, while sophomore
Shira Lahav scooped up 15 digs to lead the defense, but host Hawai'i proved to be too much for visiting UC Davis as the Rainbow Wahine posted a 25-19, 25-7, 25-22, sweep of the Aggies late Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
The loss dropped UC Davis' record to 8-15 overall and 4-8 in league play, while Hawai'i improved to 13-6 overall and remained atop the Big West Conference standings at 10-1.
Utterback's total marked the seventh time this season that the freshman has reached double digits in kills as her 11 were the most since she finished with the same number in a win over UC Santa Barbara back on Oct. 16. Lahav's 15 digs also marked her 18th double-digit performance in that category.
Freshman
Amara Aimufua added eight more kills with no other Aggie finishing with more than three.
Hawai'i hit .333 as a team to UC Davis' .094, with five members of its lineup hitting better than .300 for the match. Skyler Williams led all players by hitting .600 for the Rainbow Wahine, finishing with nine kills in 15 swings with no errors. Brooke Van Sickle led all players with 12 kills for Hawai'i, with Martyna Leoniak adding 10 more.
The Aggies return to the University Credit Union Center on campus for their next-to-last homestand of the year, welcoming UC San Diego (Nov. 4) and UC Irvine (Nov. 6) to Northern California. First serve for both matches is scheduled for 7 p.m., with UC Davis celebrating its senior class prior to first serve against the Anteaters to close out the weekend.
