LOGAN, Utah -- Senior
Cammi Johnson finished second in the all-around with a 38.975, while the trio of Johnson,
Alyssa Ito and
Cortney Cunningham propelled the vault squad to a 48.825, as UC Davis scored 193.700 in a women's gymnastics dual meet at the Dee Glenn Smith Spectrum Friday night. Host Utah State won the meet at 195.725.
UC Davis moves to 9-8 for the year.
Ito, Cunningham and Johnson each scored 9.800 as part of a three-way tie for second place on vault in the meet's second rotation, helping that event compile it's second-highest team score of the year.
UC Davis did not win an event but had a tie for second on bars and beam, plus an outright runner-up on floor. Landess and freshman
Logan Clagg each hit 9.775 on bars, Ito nailed a 9.850 on beam, and Landess posted a 9.850 on floor.
As a team, UC Davis went 48.525 on bars in the first rotation, then followed with the 48.825 on vault to sit at 97.350 at the meet's midway point. Unfortunately, the team counted a fall on floor to finish with a 48.225, then did so again on beam for a 48.125 in the fourth rotation.
Johnson scored 9.800 on beam and floor en route to her all-around total. Freshman
Thea Michovsky and sophomore
Shannon Sklow added 9.725s on floor, while junior
Kelley Hebert continues to make her return to action, chipping in a 9.700 on beam.
Utah State freshman Sofi Sullivan ran away with the beam title with a 9.925, helping her edge Johnson for the all-around win at 39.050.
UC Davis completes its run of four straight road meets with a dual at Sacramento State on March 7.
