IRVINE, Calif. — Closing the 2020 Barbara Kalbus Tournament in 15th place, the Aggies posted a 12-9 victory over No. 21 Pacific, with three Aggies completing hat tricks.
Freshman Leslie Haynes scored her first career goal to get the Aggies on the board, followed by a score from Alyssa Lengtat for a 2-0 lead. Lengtat notched her second goal 30 seconds later leading to a 3-2 score at the end of the first quarter.
Emily Aikema started the scoring spree in the second period with a goal at 7:31, with Chloe Robinson and Noelle Wijnbelt scoring about a minute apart for a 6-2 lead. Wijnbelt soon found the cage for her second goal, bringing the Aggie total to seven points at the half.
Aikema, Robinson, and Wijnbelt again scored in the third period, in that order, to keep the Tigers at bay with a 10-5 lead at 3:10 — with Wijnbelt completing her hat trick. Robinson got a hat trick of her own at 2:06 in the third quarter, closing the period with an 11-6 lead.
With the lone goal of the fourth quarter for the Aggies, Aikema recorded her first career hat trick midway through the final period for UC Davis' twelfth goal.
The Aggies will have the next weekend off before opening Big West Conference play on March 7, hosting UC Irvine at the Schaal Aquatics Center at noon.
