Davis, Calif. - With a season of duals and invitationals behind them, a select group of Aggies will make the trip south to take on the rest of the conference at this week's MPSF Championships.
Swimming events will be held over four days from Wednesday-Saturday at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, Calif. while diving events will take place about an hour away at the Marguerite Aquatics Center in Mission Viejo.
Friday and Saturday will consist of 12 events in morning and evening sessions while Wednesday will feature eight relay finals and Thursday will feature eight event programs in the morning and evening.
In addition to the team title on the line, the Aggies will be vying for spots on one of the All-Conference teams decided at the MPSF Championships. The top three finishers in individual races and the top relay team earn first team all-conference while places four through eight and second and third place relay teams earn second team all-conference.
UC Davis has a strong history of performing well at the conference meet.
Last season, now-volunteer assistant coach Solie Laughlin set a meet record in the 200 Back at 1:53.45, a school record in that event. On top of Laughlin's school record, the Aggies set 23 all-time top 10 marks at last year's MPSF meet.
Among the Aggies' notable entries this weekend, freshman Jay Jay Eaton will enter seeded third in the 100 Fly, Jamie Pincin is seeded fourth in the 100 Free - just .65 seconds off the top time heading into the event, Kyla Leacox is the fourth seed in the 200 IM, and Olivia Smith is seeded fifth in the 200 Fly.
