Aggies end dual season with win over Pacific

Stockton, Calif. - Swimming in their final head-to-head dual of the season, UC Davis cruised to a 147-111 win over host Pacific on Saturday.

With Saturday's win, the Aggies improved to 8-5-1 overall and 2-3 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation duals.

It was a dominating afternoon in Stockton as the Aggies took wins in nine of 14 events on the day.

UC Davis swept both relays for the second straight meet with Eloise Engs, Kathryn Bockman, Jay Jay Eaton and Mia Cunnan teaming to win the 200 Medley Relay in 1:46.07 and UC Davis' "A" 200 Free Relay team closing the meet with a 1:37.45 win.

Swimming her first 200 Free of the season Kyla Leacox won in 1:53.64, making the Aggies' top IMer now the fourth fastest in that event in addition to leading in the 100, 200 and 400 IMs.

An MPSF Athlete of the Week last week, Mia Cunnan continued her winning ways in the 100 Back by holding off a trio of Tigers to win in 59.16.

Olivia Smith, Jay Jay Eaton and Ashleen O'Brien went 1-2-3 in the 200 Fly with Smith's 2:05.60 win her first time in the 200 Fly since the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston on Nov. 23, 2019.

Jamie Pincin won the 100 Free for the second straight week after taking that event against Fresno State on Jan. 25, Ashleen O'Brien swam a season-best 2:07.15 to win the 200 Back, Smith won her second event of the meet by taking the 500 Free in 5:01.93 and Ashley Ma rounded out UC Davis' individual winners in the 100 Fly.

Mia Facey also swam a season-best 1:05.87 for second as the Aggies' top finisher in the 100 Breast and Leacox swam her first 100 Free of the season, her 52.87 good for second behind Pincin.

The Aggies now have roughly three weeks to prepare for the MPSF Championships at East Los Angeles College Feb. 19-22.
