IRVINE, Calif. — Senior Annie Kutt completed her seventh hat trick of the season, but the Aggies were unable to overcome a quick UC Irvine start, falling to the Anteaters 11-4 on Sunday.
UC Davis falls to 16-10, 2-2 in the Big West with the loss, while UC Irvine improves to 16-8 overall and leads the Big West with a 3-1 record.
The Anteaters got out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, before Kutt notched her first goal at 0:24 to get the Aggies on the board. The game remained quiet for the Aggeis until the fourth quarter, as UC Irvine held UC Davis scoreless throughout the second and third periods.
Kutt would also make back-to-back goals late in the fourth to close the game as the leading scorer for the Aggies. Also scoring was junior Chloe Robinson, who found the net at 5:30 in the fourth quarter to comprise the four Aggie goals.
Junior Emily Byrne drew a team-high four exclusions, putting her at 60 for the year and improving to eighth all-time. Along with her goal, Robinson notched an assist to total 37 this season to tie with Hannah Harvey for sixth all-time
