DAVIS, Calif. — A stellar performance at the USC Trojan Invitational that ended in two PR's and top-ten marks earned redshirt freshman Anthony Easter his second career Big West Conference Track Athlete of the Week award, as announced by the conference late Tuesday night.
Easter, a hurdler for the Aggies, raced in the 110m high hurdles and 400m hurdles over the weekend, and finished with personal best times in both. Easter ran a 14.42 in the 110H, breaking the seventh-place tie with teammate Kyle Clancy to move into sixth place all-time, and finished sixth overall at the USC meet. In the 400H, Easter finished second overall by just two tenths of a second, with a time of 51.71, bettering his mark as the fifth-fastest all-time at UC Davis. Easter's marks rank him at the top of the Big West standings by nearly two seconds in the 400H, and seventh overall in the NCAA, making him the highest-ranked freshman in the nation early in the season. In the 110H, Easter's mark puts him fifth in the Big West, and 16th in the West Region.
Last year, Easter earned the weekly honor after the same USC Trojan Invitational, where he ran a 51.96 in the 400H, and a 14.62 in the 110H.
The Aggies will return to the track between four meets during Mar. 18-31: the Mondo Team Challenge, the Stanford Invite, the UCLA Jim Bush Legends Invite, or the Mike Fanelli Track Classic (previously known as the SF State Distance Carnival).
