DAVIS, Calif. — Senior Kristin Schumann (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke), junior Mia Cunnan (50 free, 100 free), and freshmen Mia Motekaitis (200 free, 500 free) and Taylor Hornberger (1M, 3M) doubled in their signature events to help the UC Davis women's swimming and diving team to a senior day victory over Mountain Pacific Sports Federation colleague Pacific, 178.5 to 109.5, during Saturday's home finale meet at Schaal Aquatics Center.  

Hornberger added a pair of NCAA Zone Qualifying scores to her season, taking home top honors in the three-meter and one-meter programs with a 296.55 and 280.88, respectively. 

The Aggies improve to a 6-4 overall dual record and a 3-1 MPSF mark. The Tigers slipped to an 0-3 dual record and an 0-2 league mark. 

UC Davis jumped out a commanding 15-2 lead over the Tigers thanks to a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay, with the quartet of senior Solie Laughlin, Schumann, Motekaitis, and Cunnan touching first overall with a winning time of 1:45.09. 

Sophomore Hayley O'Brien then placed second overall as the top Aggie finisher in the 1000 free, swimming a career-best 10:36.46. 

The Aggies would go on to touch first overall in the next six events, with Motekaitis and Schumann taking home top honors in the 200 free (1:51.17) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.45), respectively, and Cunnan scoring back-to-back wins in the 50 free (24.16) and 100 free (52.85). 

Schumann and fellow senior Eva Chung would also post a 1-2 finish in the 100 back, while freshman Amanda Wilson placed first in the 200 fly (2:04.34) and redshirt junior Mia Facey touched first overall in the 100 fly (57.45).

Hornberger was up to her old tricks again, leading UC Davis with a pair of NCAA Zone Qualifying scores for the second weekend in a row. The Discovery Bay, Calif. native began the afternoon with a 296.55 in the 3-meter program—the second highest score by an Aggie in the event this season—before pacing the field with a 280.88 on the 1-meter boards. Sophomore Katie Truong trailed Hornberger with a season-best score of 267.00 on the high boards to go along with a 253.13 in the 1-meter program, placing second overall in both events.   

Saturday's meet marked the final home appearances for soon-to-be graduates Iris Brand (International Relations), Eva Chung (Biological Sciences), Jessica Fernandez (Anthropology), Nina Gonzalez (History, Spanish), Solie Laughlin (Psychology), Kristin Schumann (Neurology, Physiology & Behavior), and Inessa Toropov (Civil Engineering).  

With the 2018-19 regular season officially in the books, UC Davis will now set its sights on MPSF Championships scheduled to take place in Southern California on Feb. 20-23. The swimming events will be held at the La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center, while the diving portion will be hosted at the Marguerite Aquatic Center in Mission Viejo.
