UC Davis laxers drop first road game at Jacksonville

Aggies remain in Florida for Sunday neutral-site contest vs. Mercer

JACKSONVILLE, Calif. -- Junior attacker Sorana Larson notched her second hat trick of the year, senior midfielder Taylor Cuenin made her season debut with two goals, and senior goalkeeper Grace Richards tallied 15 saves, but UC Davis women's lacrosse dropped its first road game of 2019 to Jacksonville by a 19-9 final at D.B. Milne Field Friday afternoon.

The Aggies move to 1-2 for the year.

Juniors Rylie Siegfried, Amanda Outcalt and Maddie Myers each chipped in one goal apiece. Outcalt also had two assists for three total points, while Siegfried chipped in an assist. Another junior, Kate Graham, and sophomore Mar Alvear each totaled seven draw controls.

For JU, Jenny Kinsey netted four goals while middie McKenna Rushford added three more.

The Dolphins never trailed in the contest, opening with a goal off the opening draw to lick off a 7-1 start in the first 13 minutes of play. The Aggies pulled to within a six-goal deficit on four different occasions but never approached closer.

Jacksonville amassed a whopping 52 shots to UC Davis' 22, and committed fewer turnovers by a 10-to-26 margin. However, the Aggies won at the draw with 18 of 29 controlled.
