IN THE POLLS: Neither UC Davis, nor Boston University, are ranked nationally entering Tuesday's game… Following three straight weeks in the College Insider Mid-Major poll to start the year, the Aggies have fallen out of the rankings, but have faced two that are either ranked or among those receiving votes on Nov. 26 in No. 23 Santa Clara and Saint Mary's (10 votes).
ABOUT THE TERRIERS: Boston University enters the week with a 3-2 overall record and, by the time the Terriers take the court in Davis, will not have taken the court since Nov. 26 in a loss to Harvard... The loss to the Crimson snapped a three-game winning streak for BU, which included wins at New Hampshire, Maine, and Albany... Senior forward Nia Irving leads a trio of Terriers in double figures, averaging 15.2 ppg while shooting .521 from the floor and grabbing a team-high 7.0 rpg... Freshman guard Sydney Johnson (10.8 ppg) and junior guard Katie Nelson (10.4 ppg) are also in double figures.
SERIES NOTES: This will be the first meeting between the two programs in women's basketball. The Terriers are one of three first-time opponents for the Aggies this year along with Minnesota (Dec. 15) and local rival William Jessup on New Year's Day.
CONFERENCE CALL: Boston University will be the third all-time Patriot League opponent for UC Davis, which is 2-0 against the league's current alignment. The Aggies posted wins over Lafayette at home during the program's reclassification to Division I in 2006, before taking down Navy on a neutral court at the Husky Classic hosted by Houston Baptist in 2012.
LAST TIME OUT: Sophia Song and
Katie Toole each finished with 13 points, while
Cierra Hall added 10 more to go with eight rebounds, but visiting Portland State finished 18-for-18 from the line and repelled a UC Davis fourth-quarter comeback en route to a 76-70 victory. The Aggies whittled a 10-point final period deficit down to just two points with 2:46 to play in regulation -- and, again, with 1:26 to play -- but could not come up with the tying basket, missing their final three shots. Junior
Mackenzie Trpcic added six assists, while Hall swiped four steals.
