Davis, Calif. - Freshman
Jay Jay Eaton led four Aggies in the "A" final of the 100 Fly on Friday as UC Davis wrapped up day two at the Phill Hansel Invitational with more season and personal bests.
Eaton swam 54.87 in the 100 Fly prelims and dropped that time to 54.38 and a new team-best time by over two seconds. Eaton was followed closely in the "A" final by
Cora McClelland, who improved from the prelims to the finals in an event for the second straight day, by going 55.29 in the morning and 55.15 in the final for a new lifetime best.
Ashley Ma established a new season best with a 55.18 in the finals and
Anna Lee set a new lifetime PR with a 54.95 in the morning to also make the "A" final.
Jessica Larson gave UC Davis a fifth swimmer to make a 100 Fly final by swimming 57.24 in the prelims.
Kathryn Bockman continued a two-day trend of setting new team standards by finishing in 1:53.18 in the 200 Free prelims and later finishing in 1:54.80 in the finals. Bockman's prelim time set a lifetime PR just a day after swimming multiple heats of the 500 Free.
Dani Fasan was just off her lifetime PR of 1:03.65 in finishing in 1:03.95 in the 100 Breast finals but broke her own team-best mark by nearly three seconds and improved from the morning's prelims by almost two seconds.
Amelia Cho also set a new season-best mark with 1:05.34 in the morning and a 1:05.38 in the same final heat of the 100 Breast as Fasan.
In the 100 Back,
Mia Cunnan broke through by shattering her previous season-best by over two seconds, swimming 57.03 in the prelims and 57.88 in the finals.
Kyla Leacox set a new lifetime PR with a team-best 56.79 in the "D" final and
Jessica Larson also dipped under the previous team-high mark of 58.44 with a 57.82 in the same final. In the morning session, McClelland set a new lifetime PR by swimming 57.64 and later finished the "E" final in 57.99.
Bockman, Lee,
Olivia Smith, and
Amanda Wilson set a new team-best mark in the 800 Free Relay by almost 25 seconds in 7:23.95.
On the 3-meter board, Syndey Wren led the Aggies with a score of 249.15 in the "B" final.
Londen Christensen scored 248.15 in the "A" final,
Katie Truong put her best score of 235.25 in the prelims and
Taylor Hornberger also scored her 226.10 in the prelims.
UC Davis will finish out their stay in Houston on Saturday with trials and finals in the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, and platform diving and finals in the 1650 Free and 400 Free Relay.
