WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Junior midfielder Taylor Cuenin tied her season best of five goals while junior goalkeeper Grace Richards tallied 11 of her team's 13 saves, leading UC Davis to a 12-4 win over William & Mary in non-conference women's collegiate lacrosse action at Martin Family Stadium Saturday.

The Aggies improve to 5-4 overall, going 2-1 on their week-long road trip to Virginia. The Tribe falls to 4-7 for the year.

Cuenin shot 5-for-7 with three ground balls and a caused turnover. Sophomore attacker Sorana Larson added a hat trick while senior midfielder Kate Fellner led all players with three assists. Senior Kelsey DeJesus tallied two goals with a game-best six ground balls. Sophomore attacker Amanda Outcalt and freshman middie Mar Alvear also notched goals.

Richards had 11 stops with two ground balls in her 41:41 in the circle, then freshman Taylor Mathieson relieved her for two saves with just one goal allowed. Overall, W&M managed to shoot just 4-for-24 for the game.

Emma MacLeod, Sophia Kopec, Abby Corkum and Annalise Lower each scored once for the Tribe.

UC Davis never trailed in the contest, amassing a 10-1 halftime lead. Cuenin drew first blood with a Maddie Myers-assisted goal in the sixth minute, igniting an initial 4-0 run. She then scored three straight during a 6-0 finish to the first half, then netted her fifth score in the 43rd minute.

The Aggies outshot their hosts by a 20-9 margin in the first half, holding a 32-24 total edge in the game. They also committed only 13 turnovers. The Tribe also suffered only 13 turnovers and even outdrew UC Davis by an 11-7 advantage.

UC Davis returns to action for its fifth straight road game at Stanford on Thursday.
