DAY 3 - COMPLETE RESULTS
OXFORD, Ohio — Senior Solie Laughlin logged her fourth event win of the weekend as well as her second NCAA "B" cut time when she touched first overall in the 200 back with a season-best time of 1:54.92, while redshirt junior Mia Facey took home top honors in the 100 free thanks to a career-best 50.35, and senior Kristin Schumann tallied the Aggies' third event win of the night in the 200 breaststroke to help UC Davis close out the 25th-annual Miami Invite with a third-place team finish.Â
The host Redhawks paced the field with 1249.5 points, ahead of Cincinnati in second with 1000.5 points, UC Davis in third (914.5), Milwaukee in fourth (511), and Ball State in fifth (441.5).Â
Junior Olivia Smith got things started for the Aggies during Saturday's second session, posting a fifth-place finish in the 1650 free with a time of 17:22.30. Sophomores Leah Timmerman and Kathryn Bockman both swam the event for the first time this season alongside Smith, finishing 10th and 11th on the night, respectively.Â
Laughlin was then up to her old tricks again, logging her fourth individual title and her second NCAA "B" standard cut of the weekend in the 200 back with a winning time of 1:54.92. Freshman Mia Motekaitis finished just shy of the podium after climbing three spots from her seventh-place prelim finish to a fourth-place result in the "A" final with a season-best time of 2:01.92.Â
In the 100 free, the Aggies scored a combined 40 points thanks to a 1-2 finish by Facey and Jamie Pincin. Facey swam a career-best 50.35 and improved from seventh to sixth in the all-time top 10 list, out-touching Pincin who posted a season-best time of 50.73.Â
Schumann secured precious points for the Aggies after turning in the fastest time of the night in the 200 breaststroke (2:14.81) to go along with a first-place finish in the prelims, while junior Tori Kaleta moved up two spots to finish sixth on the night with a season-best time of 2:19.75.Â
UC Davis' four finalists in the 200 fly were the most on the night for the Aggies, led by senior Nina Gonzalez who improved on a third-place prelim finish to touch second overall with a season-best time of 2:02.67. Junior Cora McClelland (2:05.46), Smith (2:06.22), and freshman Amanda Wilson (2:06.25), also turned in season-best performances to finish fifth, eighth, and ninth overall, respectively.Â
The Aggies then closed out the night with a podium finish in the 400 free relay with a season-best time of 3:24.89Â by the quartet of Laughlin, Schumann, Kaleta, and Kyla Leacox.Â
On the boards, all four Aggies earned second dives in the one-meter program with freshman Taylor Hornberger and sophomore Katie Truong in the championship and freshman Londen Christensen and senior Inessa Toropov in the consolation final. Hornberger led the Aggies with a 259.60 to finish fifth on the night ahead of Truong in eighth (216.25). Christensen won the consolation final with a score of 244.70, while Toropov ended the night 16th overall (188.75).Â
UC Davis resumes action in 2019 with the annual Aggie Open on Jan. 5.Â
