DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis, the only Big Sky team with a perfect league record, will enter Saturday's 1 p.m. game at Aggie Stadium, vs. Northern Arizona, in sole possession of first place and ranked No. 6 in the nation after STATS FCS released this week's top 25 poll on Monday.
Since the top nine teams in last week's poll all won their respective games this past weekend, those positions remain unchanged in this week's listing. However, with its blowout win at Montana, football pulled closer to the No. 5 slot, current held by Eastern Washington — a team UC Davis will face on Nov. 10 in its final regular season road game.
The Aggies' historic season continued when they jumped from No. 13 to No. 9 in the AFCA Coaches' poll; this marks first time in program history that top 10 rankings were held in both national polls.
UC Davis' offense leads the Big Sky, and is ranked No. 4 in the country by averaging 334.2 yards per game.
With its 7-1 overall and perfect 5-0 Big Sky record, the football program is enjoying the best start in program history, and will look to extend its current five-game win streak (another program high) on Saturday vs. Northern Arizona.
