DAVIS, Calif. – Senior American studies major Mason Moe enjoyed a career-best performance last Saturday, and led a defensive unit that did not allow Montana to score a point in the second half while his team posted 46 straight points to earn its inaugural victory vs. the Grizzlies.

By helping the Aggies hand UM its 32nd home loss since 1986, Moe earned Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week honors Monday morning, which was followed by STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Week accolades that afternoon.

This is Moe's first national award, and the second earned by UC Davis this season. Following its season-opening victory at San José State, freshman biochemistry and molecular biology major Ulonzo Gilliam earned National Freshman of the Week distinction.

Against the Grizzlies, the Kanehoe, Hawai'i native recorded a game-high 13 tackles, seven solo tackles, five tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry, all career-high figures. Moe also forced a fumble early in the fourth quarter, which eventually turned a seven-point lead into a two-possession advantage, fueling the Aggies rout over UM in the process.

Moe will enter Saturday's 1 p.m. home game vs. Northern Arizona with 42 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks — all team-high figures.

Victorious in their last five straight, a new program record, the Aggies will look to extend this streak against the Lumberjacks in the start of a home-friendly portion of their schedule that features two of the team's final three games at Aggie Stadium.
