SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The UC Davis women's swimming and diving team took home top honors in 12 of 16 events during Saturday's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation dual at San Diego, a meet that also saw individual wins from nine different Aggies, including two by freshman
Mia Motekaitis (1000 free, 200 back). On the boards sophomore
Katie Truong and freshman
Londen Christensen both posted wins in the one-meter program with NCAA Zone Qualifying scores of 279.00 and 266.10, respectively, helping UC Davis to a 196-104 victory over the Toreros.
UC Davis improves to an even 2-2 overall dual mark with a 2-0 MPSF record. The Toreros fell to 0-2 on the year with an 0-1 league mark.
The Aggies jumped out to an 11-6 lead over the Toreros thanks to the quartet of
Solie Laughlin,
Kristin Schumann,
Cora McClelland, and
Mia Facey touching first overall in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.03. The team of
Olivia Smith,
Nina Gonzalez,
Amanda Wilson, and Motekaitis would later claim the last win of the day for UC Davis finishing with a time of 3:33.17 in the 400 free relay.
Motekaitis secured her first individual win in the second event of the day, finishing first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:24.39.
Seven events later the Aggies posted back-to-back 1-2-3 sweeps, as Motekaitis logged her second event win in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.38 ahead of
Iris Brand and
Vanessa Yeung, before
Kyla Leacox touched first overall in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.27), with teammates
Tori Kaleta and Laughlin in second and third, respectively.

Due to facility limitations, the Aggies and the Toreros faced off in a pair of one-meter programs. UC Davis swept the first round, with Truong posting an NCAA Zone Qualifying score of 279.00 ahead of Christensen in second (259.80) and
Alisha Miller in third, who posted a career-best score of 229.95. Christensen took home top honors in the second round with an NCAA Zone Qualifying score of 266.10, followed by Truong in second with a 246.07.
UC Davis returns home to Schaal Aquatics Center on Oct. 26 hosting Nevada at 4 p.m.
