Lee, Kim earn Big West Conference honors

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Freshman Yoonhee Kim captured Big West Conference Freshman of the Year honors and All-Big West Conference first team, senior Paige Lee garnered her fourth straight all-conference nod, and freshman Christine Danielsson finished in a tie for seventh overall, wrapping up UC Davis action at the Big West Conference women's golf championship tournament hosted by UC Riverside at the Oak Quarry Golf Club Tuesday.

The Aggies placed fourth in the tourney with a 54-hole total of 894, 30 strokes over par and just seven strokes behind team champion Cal Poly. UC Riverside finished second by a single stroke at 888. Hawai'i moved ahead of UC Davis with 893 strokes, thanks to a 292 final round. Danielsson shot a 3-over 75 to complete her tournament with 222 total strokes, sharing seventh place with Cal Poly's Mallory Muehlbauer. Sophomore Samantha Hutchison, who had the Aggies' low round on Monday, turned in a 76 in the third round to finish in a tie for 10th at 224. Lee scored a 75 on Tuesday to finish t14th at 225. Freshman Rei Nakatani carded UC Davis' best final round with her even-par 72, matching her season best and moving into a tie for 25th with 230 strokes. Kim rounded out the Aggie delegation with a 75 on Tuesday, finishing her in t27th place with a 231 total. Cal State Fullerton's 17th-ranked Martina Edberg captured both the individual championship and the conference's Player of the Year award. Cal Poly's Sophie Aagaard was selected as Big West Conference Coach of the Year. Lee, who earned three straight first-team All-Big West awards and 2015 Player of the Year, joined Kim on the conference's top squad for 2017. 2017 BIG WEST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, DAY 3
