DAVIS, Calif. - For the eight Big West teams that will visit the Honda Center for Thursday's quarterfinal round, their goal is simple: win three games in three days. The Aggies' pursuit of the league's automatic bid at this year's NCAA Tournament will begin at noon, in the event's inaugural game, when No. 2-seed UC Davis squares off against No. 7 Cal Poly.
FOX's family of networks will broadcast this game live from the Honda Center. Aggie fans in Northern and Central California can watch Kevin Barnett (play-by-play), Corey Maggette (analyst) and Kaileigh Brandt (sideline) call the action on FOX College Sports Pacific; Southern California supporters can tune to FOX Sports West. An online video stream is also available at FOXSportsGo.com or on the FOXSportsGo app (must log in with cable/satellite account information).
During the regular season, each team defeated the other on its own court by four points. Including this season's split, the Aggies have won six of the last eight head-to-head matchups. In recent seasons, this has been a highly-competitive matchup since five of the last eight games have been decided by five points or less.
During conference play, Cal Poly made the most threes (130) but UC Davis was No. 2 in defending the trey, allowing opponents to shoot only .311 percent (96-for-309) from distance.
Even though both teams will head to Anaheim with wins in all but one of their last four games, UC Davis dealt with tougher competition throughout the final weeks of the regular season. Compared to Cal Poly, a team that faced opponents from the bottom half of the league's standings in three of its final four games, the Aggies faced one of the Big West's other top three teams in three of their last four matchups.
With its desired result, UC Davis will post a 20-win season for the second time in the last three years.
Series Record: Cal Poly leads 35-20
Last UC Davis Win: 68-64; 1/7/17 at UC Davis
Last Cal Poly Win: 74-70; 2/2/17 at Cal Poly
Series Streak: Cal Poly +1
