March 27, 2017 KAPALUA, Hawaii - Sophomore Samantha Hutchison and senior Paige Lee each finished the day at 1-over-par 73 in the first round to lead UC Davis at Hawaii's Anuenue Spring Break Classic women's collegiate golf tournament at The Bay Course Monday. The Aggies also closed out the day in a tie for ninth place with a team total of 307 strokes, matching the host Wahine.
Seventh-ranked UCLA leads the 15-team field with a 3-over 291, two strokes ahead of No. 33 Colorado and No. 42 San Jose State, each with 293 totals. Hutchison fired a birdie on the par-5 15th hole then again on the par-3 fifth to move back into the top 10. Lee struggled early, falling to 3-over before rallying with birdies on the 15th and 18th. She shot par for her final four holes to protect her position on the individual leaderboard. Freshman
Rei Nakatani finished with a 7-over-par 79 on Monday, with fellow first-year
Yoonhee Kim three strokes back in t65th place. The Aggies' third freshman in action,
Christine Danielsson, ended her day at 14-over 86. UCLA's Lilia Vu carded a 5-under-par 67 to take a commanding first-round lead for the individual medalist. Arizona State's Monica Vaughn and Colorado's Esther Lee share second place at 1-under 71. The Anuenue tournament, held on a par-72, 6012-yard course, continues through Wednesday.
