Aggies, Lee place seventh at Stanford's spring opener

Feb. 12, 2017

STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Yoonhee Kim carded a team-best 1-under-par 70 while senior Paige Lee finished seventh overall to close out UC Davis action at the Peg Barnard Invitational women's golf tournament at Stanford Golf Course Sunday. The Aggies held at seventh place in the team race with a team total of 599.

Kim's round of 70 vaulted her 26 places up the individual leaderboard into a tie for 15th place. She opened the day with a birdie 4 on the 473-yard 12th hole, then finished with additional birdies on the seventh and 10th. Lee shot a 3-over 74 to close out with a two-round total of 145. This is her second top-10 finish of the year, along with her t5th at the Golfweek Conference Challenge back in late September. Sophomore Samantha Hutchison and freshman Christine Danielsson each finished as part of a six-way tie for 38th in the individual standings at 11-over 153. Freshman Rei Nakatani rounded out the Aggie lineup, carding 78 in Sunday's round for a 157-stroke total. Stanford's Andrea Lee shot a second-straight 67 to run away with the individual medal at 8-under 134. She was one of just two players in the entire field to finish under par for the tournament, along with Oregon's Kelsey Ulep at 2-under 140. No. 1-ranked Stanford won its own event at 3-over 571, 10 strokes in front of runner-up Oregon and 16 ahead of third-place Colorado. UC Davis' showing at the 12-team Peg Barnard marks its best team finish of the 2016-17 season. The Aggies previously placed 12th out of 18 teams at the Vail, Colorado-based Golfweek tourney. They take a week off from competition before returning to action at Wisconsin's Westbrook Spring Invitational from February 26-27. 2017 PEG BARNARD INVITATIONAL, FINAL
