DAVIS, Calif. - From the pregame festivities until the final play of the game, Saturday's home finale vs. No. 19/15 Southern Utah is quickly becoming one of the most exciting events of the season.

Make sure you arrive to Aggie Stadium early to help the football program recognize its 14-member senior class. Once action begins, UC Davis will face its eighth opponent of the season that is either nationally ranked, or receiving votes, in the NCAA Coaches or national media polls.

Members of the 1982 football team that appeared in that year's National Championship game will attend the Aggies' final home game of the season to honor one of their teammates, 10-year NFL veteran and Aggie legend Ken O'Brien, at halftime when he becomes the inaugural member of the Aggie Pride Wall.

With the support of Aggie fans in attendance this weekend, the team will seek its third victory in a row, which will guarantee the first winning record in the program's Big Sky era.

AN AGGIE LEGEND RETURNS HOME
• UC Davis Athletics will honor former Aggie quarterback, and 10-year NFL veteran Ken O'Brien at halftime of Saturday's home finale
• O'Brien will be honored in the game along with the 1982 Aggie football team -- one that includes current head coach Dan Hawkins as that squad's fullback -- which celebrates the 35th anniversary of its National Championship game appearance
• O'Brien will also become the first member of the Aggie Pride Wall, which adorns Aggie Stadium's press box
• Originally from nearby Jesuit High School, O'Brien started three seasons for the Aggies after transferring from Sacramento State
• In his senior year (1982), he captured first-team All-America honors from the National Football Coaches Association while helping UC Davis reach the NCAA Division II title game for the first time in school history
• O'Brien set school records by finishing the season with 2,976 passing yards and 23 touchdowns, and also won the 1982-83 Colby E. "Babe" Slater Award as the school's outstanding male athlete of the year that year
• He also became the first Aggie to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, going as the 24th overall pick to the New York Jets during the "Year of the Quarterback"
• Throughout his decade-long career, mostly with the Jets, O'Brien finished with 25,094 yards and 128 touchdowns
• He also earned Pro Bowl selections in 1985 and 1991
• In 1997, O'Brien entered the College Football Hall of Fame -- seven years after his induction to the Cal Aggie Athletics Hall of Fame

TRUE UNIVERSITY AMBASSADORS
• Excelling on the field and in the classroom, UC Davis student-athletes compete in 23 intercollegiate sports (14 women's and nine men's) and are enrolled in 93 different undergraduate majors offered by the University, and hold an average GPA of 3.0 - higher than the campus average)
• Eight UC Davis athletic teams posted the highest NCAA Graduation Success Rates in their respective conferences, while four programs were honored with Public Recognition Awards by the NCAA after their Academic Progress Rate stood among the top 10 percent of their respective sports

THE DEFINITION OF A STUDENT-ATHLETE
• The Aggies posted an NCAA Academic Progress Rate of 981, the highest among all Big Sky football programs for the fifth consecutive year
• The distinction earned them an APR Award from the FCS Athletics Directors Association for the fifth year in a row as well
• UC Davis has increased its APR each year during this impressive run and owns the second-longest active streak of APR Awards (Bryant University has won six straight)
• The APR measures student-athlete retention and eligibility and helps provide a real-time mark of classroom performance

DOSS ADDED TO PRESTIGIOUS WALTER PAYTON AWARD WATCH LIST
• Thanks to a breakout season that includes top NCAA FCS and Big Sky Conference figures, junior wide receiver Keelan Doss' name is now on the prestigious Walter Payton Award watch list, a honor presented to the FCS offensive player of the year
• A national panel of over 150 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries will vote on 25 finalists following the regular season
• Past winners of the Walter Payton Award, which was first handed out in 1987, include Steve McNair, Tony Romo, Brian Westbrook, John Friesz, Brian Finneran, Jimmy Garoppolo and Cooper Kupp -- players that continued their career in the NFL

MAIER JOINS DOSS ON PRESTIGIOUS WATCH LIST
• Quarterback Jake Maier is the latest name added to the Walter Payton Watch List, as announced by STATS LLC. on Nov. 7
• This accolade is well deserved since the sophomore economics major has held numerous top five FCS stats since the first week of the season
• Entering this Saturday's 4 p.m. home finale vs. Southern Utah, Maier holds four top-five FCS rankings: No. 2 in the nation in completion percentage (.708), No. 3 in passing yards (3,033) and passing yards per game (337.0) and No. 5 in completions per game (26.67)

• Earlier this season, UC Davis football visited the International Center to distribute 2017 schedule posters, translated to Arabic, German, Indonesian, Mandarin, Portuguese and Spanish, to the school's international scholars
• In addition to distributing multilingual schedule posters, student-athletes also took the time to explain the sport of football to their new peers through drills, activities, one-on-one and group conversations

UC DAVIS' IRONMAN
• When the Aggies take the field his weekend, Fred Arp will witness, in person, his 453rd consecutive UC Davis football game
• Arp was an assistant coach with the Aggies for more than 40 years before retiring at the end of the 2007 season
• His accomplishments as defensive line coach, and his reverence from the players he mentored, led to his enshrinement in the Cal Aggie Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010

•November 4th's victory also marked the second time this season that the Aggies won a road game outside the state of California, something that has not taken place since the 2013 season when that team defeated Southern Utah and Northern Colorado on their own fields
•If the Aggies defeat Southern Utah in next week's home finale, they will post four home wins in a season for the first time as a Big Sky member, and the first since the 2009 season when football competed in the Great West Conference

A PACKED STADIUM WITNESSED THE PROGRAM'S #AGSCENSION
•A crowd of 10,503 packed Aggie Stadium to witness UC Davis' Battle for the Golden Horseshoe victory on Oct. 28
•This is the fourth-highest attendance in the facility's history, and the largest crowd since Sept. 17, 2011, when 10,129 fans watched the Aggies defeat San Diego
•Two of the top three totals are sellouts, which took place vs. Cal Poly (11/6/09) and Southern Utah (10/13/07)
•The third-highest crowd took place on Oct. 13, 2007, also against Cal Poly
•Aggie Stadium's first-ever game took place on Sept. 1, 2007, vs. Western Washington

MAIER COLLECTS ROOT SPORTS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
•By throwing four touchdowns and finishing with a career-high 459 passing yards, sophomore quarterback Jake Maier earned ROOT Sports Offensive Player of the Week, when Big Sky officials announced their Week Nine selections on Oct. 30
•His four TDs match a career high; his former career high of 419 yards took place when UC Davis hosted North Dakota on Sept. 30
•Maier recorded his sixth game of 300 or more passing yards when the Mustangs visited Davis that night
•His 459 passing yards are a new Big Sky era record, and stand third on the all-time list behind Kevin Daft's 495 yards against Southern Utah in 1998 and Daft's 482 yards at New Haven in 1997 NCAA semifinals
•Maier is the third Aggie to receive ROOT Sports Player of the Week honors this year
•Keelan Doss (offensive) and Ryan Parenteau (special teams) are the other two UC Davis players

AGGIES CONTINUED TO COLLECT AWARDS THE FOLLOWING WEEK
•For the first time in program history, Aggies earned two of the three awards presented each week by the Big Sky when officials named sophomore quarterback Jake Maier and sophomore kicker Matt Blair as its ROOT Sports Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week on Nov. 6
•With that announcement, the Aggies have five Player of the Week awards to their credit this year, matching the combined total from the previous four seasons
•Of Blair's four punts, three landed inside the 20; he also averaged 50.5 yards per attempt thanks to kicks that traveled 58 yards, one shy of a career high, 57 yards and 45 yards
•Eight of Blair's nine kickoffs at Idaho State ended as touchbacks; he recorded 10 touchbacks as a freshman last year
•Maier finished with 300 or more passing yards for the seventh time this season when the Aggies traveled to Idaho State
•He also tied a matched a career high by scoring four touchdowns -- three passing and his first career rushing -- that afternoon
•This is the second time in as many weeks that Maier claimed Offensive Player of the Week accolades

NO EASY WEEKENDS THIS SEASON
•Southern Utah is the eighth opponent this season that is ranked, or receiving votes, in either the NCAA Coaches or national media polls, when it faces the Aggies
•UC Davis' first victory of the year, earned at home vs. San Diego, took place against the second of six 2016 postseason opponents on the Aggies' schedule this year
•Other opponents include San Diego State, Weber State, North Dakota, Eastern Washington and Cal Poly

DOSS IS ENJOYING THE VIEW FROM THE TOP
•For the 3rd straight week, junior wide receiver Keelan Doss leads the nation in three statistical categories: receiving yards, receiving yards per game and receptions per game
•Doss will arrive to Aggie Stadium with 1,233 total yards, a 137.0 ypg and 10.1 rpg averages

BETTER BUY AN ERASER, JUST IN CASE
•The single-season record for receiving yards is 1,365, set in 2011 by Michael Oliva, a mark Keelan Doss will own if he collects 133 yards against the Thunderbirds
•Charley Enos recorded 100 receiving yards or more in eight games throughout the 2000 season, and has the program record for most career 100-yard games at 14; Doss also has eight 100-yard games this year and has an opportunity to set a new single-season record this weekend
•Doss will enter Saturday's game with 91 receptions, and needs another 3 to become the Aggies' all-time single-season leader in this category
•Tony Kays currently holds this record with 93 receptions, which took place in 2005
•J.T. O'Sullivan threw for 3,826 yards throughout the 2001 season, something sophomore quarterback Jake Maier can match with another 793 passing yards
•O'Sullivan threw for 300 or more yards in seven games during the 2000 season; Maier enters the Aggies' home finale with seven 300-yard games
•Greg Denham threw for 300 or more yards in five straight games in 2008, matching Maier's effort this season
•Maier also has a shot to set a new single-season completions record, currently held by Greg Denham (296 in 2008)
•Throughout his first nine games as an Aggie, Maier has 240 completions

BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO
• Unless you are junior defensive back Vincent White, who is ranked No. 7 in the nation with his 1.7 pass breakup per game average
•White is responsible for a Big Sky-high 12 of the Aggies' 34 pass breakups
•UC Davis' game at Portland State (9/16) is when White made a name for himself by recording four PBUs -- the first of his career

THIRD TIME IS DEFINITELY A CHARM
•With a win in Saturday's home finale, UC Davis will hold its first three-game win streak as a Big Sky program

O'ROURKE NAMED TO FRED MITCHELL AWARD LIST
•Sophomore Max O'Rourke is one of 41 kickers from the FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NJCAA levels who comprise the current Fred Mitchell Award watch list
•O'Rourke leads all Aggies in scoring with 62 points, 20 more than the second-ranked Aggie
•The Fred Mitchell Award selection committee will name this year's most outstanding placekicker in early December
