COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Junior Angelina Proshak posted the Aggies' best finish of the day, ending the afternoon in 16th on the platform, while senior Serena Yee led the way on the 1-meter board to close out day one of competition for the UC Davis diving team at the Air Force Diving Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday.

Proshak collected her second-highest score of the season -- and the third highest by an Aggie this year -- on the platform with a 192.30 en route to her top 20 finish among the field of 62 divers. Sophomore Shaifali Goyal was next for UC Davis, finishing in the middle of the pack with a score of 177.50 to place 32nd, while sophomore Inessa Toropov (175.40), Yee (157.80), junior Ani Vemury (152.95), and sophomore Jessica Fernandez (137.30), all made their first appearances on the platform this season.

Yee finished with a score of 220.25 to finish 32nd out of 66 divers in the low board prelims, followed by Toropov (208.75) and Goyal (205.05) in 45th and 47th, respectively. Proshak (198.95), who already has a zone qualifying score in the event from earlier this year, Fernandez (192.90), and Vemury (166.85), rounded out the Aggie competitors.

Wyoming's Karla Contreras won individual honors in both events, finishing first on the 1-meter with a finals score of 307.80, while posting a score of 281.50 on the platform.

The competition concludes on Saturday with the 3-meter event. Preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. PT, with the finals to follow.
