WOLCUTT, Colo. - Four birdies, including three in a row early in her round, sparked a spectacular bogey-free 4-under 68 on Wednesday for fifth-place Paige Lee while freshman Yoonhee Kim stayed hot with her second round under par as the UC Davis women's golf team finished the Golfweek Conference Challenge in 12th place.

UC Davis put together another solid round, cutting six strokes from its second-round effort to post a 2-over 290 day. The Aggies finished 28 over for the week. San Diego State went wire to wire for the winning, finishing 2 over for the team title and beating Denver and Pepperdine by eight shots.

Lee's 68 vaulted her 12 spots in the final standings and into the top 10. She went 2 under for the 54-hole tournament at Red Sky Golf Club and tied for the third-best score of the day. Kim jumped nine spots from Tuesday, tying for 19th after breaking par for the second straight day with her 71. She shot 70 in the second round and was just 4 over overall.

Sophomore Samantha Hutchison matched her best score of the week with her 75, tying for 61st at 14 over. Freshman Christine Danielsson shot 76 and tied for 69th at 17 over while freshman Rei Nakatani had an 81 and tied for 72nd at 19 over.

Lee began the shotgun round on the 13th hole and got a par. But she fueled her momentum with three consecutive birdies on the par-4 14th, par-5 15th and par-4 16th to quickly get to 3 under. She added another birdie on the par-5 2nd hole and then showcased pars on all of the other holes. Lee posted her sixth career top-five finish.

Kim also played well on Wednesday, particularly after her fourth hole when she turned a 2-over start into a 3-under performance over the final 11 holes on her way to a 71. She played the final two rounds a total of 3 under.

Hutchison had three birdies in the final round and played the course's back nine just a shot above par. Danielsson was only 1 over on the front nine and had a birdie on the par-5, 507-yard fifth hole. Nakatani highlighted her day with birdies on each side of the course.

Malene Krolboll Hansen of Coastal Carolina shot a 6-under 66 to post a 9 under total and win medalist honors by three shots.

The Aggies will be off until closing the fall portion of their schedule on Oct. 14-16 at the Stanford Invitational.
