ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - UC Davis women's golf freshman Yoonhee Kim carded a bogey-free round of 5-under 67 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 15th place in her first collegiate tournament while senior Paige Lee tied for 30th at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the UNM Golf Course.

The Aggies, whose lineup featured a quartet of freshmen competing in their first event, finished 16th in their season-opening tournament after firing par-288 on Tuesday. It was a 14-shot improvement from their previous-best score this week. Lee shot a par round of 72, Rei Nakatani had a 75, Christine Danielsson shot 77 and Courtney Clark came in with a 74. UC Davis was 41 over as a team for the 54-hole event.

Oklahoma State ran away with the team title, putting together a three-round score of 20 under and beating Arizona State by nine shots. Baylor was third at 10 under. Colorado's Esther Lee shot a final-round 68 and was 18 under for the week while posting a five-shot win.

Kim was spectacular for UC Davis on Tuesday, collecting five birdies and 13 pars. She had back-to-back birdies on the first and second holes at UNM Golf Course and then repeated the feat on the 10th and 11th. She also birdied No. 18. Kim shot a 74 in the second round which was completed in the morning after play was suspended by inclement weather on Monday.

Lee opened her final round with seven consecutive pars and later had two birdies and two bogeys to balance her card. Her 72 matched her second-round score and left her 2 over for the tournament.

Clark showed the biggest improvement from the second round, bouncing back from an 89 to shoot a solid 74. She did it by picking up two birdies and 13 pars to help her effort. Nakatani was steady throughout the day, finishing with 15 pars and just three bogeys while Danielsson was just 2 over on the front nine.

UC Davis returns to action when it takes part in the East-West Match Play at Ann Arbor, Mich.
