BERTSCH EARNS A PAIR OF HONORS: UC Davis sophomore Morgan Bertsch was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week on Dec. 26 after her career day in helping the Aggies to a road win at San Francisco last week. In addition to her first career league weekly honor, Bertsch was named the conference's player of the week by the website College Sports Madness for the second time this season. AGGIES LEAP INTO NCAA RPI TOP 50: A big win to open its trip to the state of Florida has propelled the UC Davis women's basketball team into the top 50 of the NCAA's latest RPI rankings, as the Aggies jumped 25 spots to No. 46 in the country following their six-point victory over UCF on Wednesday night. Believed to be the program's highest ranking at this point in the season during the Division I Era, UC Davis entered its contest against the Knights ranked No. 71 in the country before putting up 77 points against the nation's No. 6-rated scoring defense. UCF was ranked No. 78 in the RPI entering the contest before the Aggies' 77-71 win to improve to 9-3 overall on the season and earn their third-straight road victory. ABOUT THE DOLPHINS: Jacksonville enters Friday's contest with a 9-4 overall record, having lost two straight following a, 53-41, road defeat at the hands of Auburn on Wednesday night... Seven of the Dolphins' nine wins this season have come at home... Jacksonville is averaging 68.7 ppg and shooting 42 percent from the floor as a team while limiting opponents to just 59.5 ppg and 37 percent from the field... Senior guard Sherranda Reddick leads a trio of double-digit scorers for the Dolphins, scoring 19.6 ppg and entering the week ranked among the top 25 scorers in the nation... Senior forward Christin Mercer (10.8 ppg) and junior guard Brandi Buie (10.5 ppg) are also in double figures... Senior Kimberly Dawkins and junior Kayla Gordon have dominated the boards, averaging better than eight rebounds per game apiece this season.

SERIES NOTES: Wednesday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Aggies and the Dolphins, and the inaugural meeting with an Atlantic Sun Conference program.

AGGIES INK THREE TO NLIs: UC Davis women's basketball solidified its front line with a trio of signings during the NCAA's early signing period on Nov. 10, welcoming three high school standouts to the "Aggie Family." Southern California natives Kayla Konrad (Valencia, Calif. / Valencia HS) and Cierra Hall (Cypress, Calif. / Fairmont Prep Academy) join highly-rated Canadian post Sage Stobbart (North Vancouver, British Columbia / Seycove Secondary School) in the Aggies' signing class, who all begin their careers as true freshmen in 2017-18. For more details on the three signees, read the entire release at http://www.ucdavisaggies.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/111016aac.html.

IT'S A START: With nine wins in their first 12 games out of the gate, the Aggies have posted their best start since the 2010-11 UC Davis squad opened 10-2 in the same 12-game stretch to start the year. That season, the Aggies finished with a school Division I Era record 24 wins en route to a Big West Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth.

NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS: A win Friday against Jacksonville would give the Aggies 10 wins during their non-conference schedule -- the most since the 2010-11 squad finished 11-2 prior to the start of Big West play.

HIT THE ROAD, JACK: UC Davis carries a 3-1 record into the fifth game of its season-long six-game road trip on Friday in Jacksonville -- the Aggies' longest stretch away from home since a similar run from Nov. 29-Dec. 18, 2013. UC Davis, however, is looking for a better results during this season's extended road swing after going just 2-4 during that 2013 trip, which included a contest at top-ranked UConn on Dec. 5.

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK: With wins over Sacramento State, San Francisco, and UCF, UC Davis posted three straight wins on the road for the first time since the Aggies defeated Portland State, Portland, and Saint Mary's, away from home on Nov. 27-Dec. 3 last season. During their current run, the Aggies are averaging 88.3 ppg as a team, shooting .538 from the field and .455 from beyond the arc, while the defense has held opponents to just 69.0 ppg and 35 percent from the floor -- including 24 percent (18-of-74) from three-point range.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A POINT MAKES: Thanks to its win on Wednesday in Orlando, UC Davis is a perfect 7-0 this season when scoring 70-or-more points, but is just 2-3 when held to 69-or-fewer.

COMEBACK KIDS: The Aggies have had to come from behind in eight of their nine victories this season, leading wire-to-wire only once against Holy Names on Nov. 13. On the flip side, UC Davis never led in defeats to nationally ranked Stanford and Oregon State, while Hofstra battled back from an 11-point deficit for a four-point win on Nov. 27.

NOT HALF BAD: Leading at the half has been a good omen this season, as eight of UC Davis' nine wins have seen the Aggies hold an advantage at the break. The lone outlier? A loss to Hofstra on Nov. 27 after leading 33-30 following two quarters.

STRONG AS A BERTSCH: While the oak has long regarded as one of the strongest woods in nature, the Aggies are proving that a "Bertsch" can be just as durable in any conditions. The Santa Rosa, Calif., native has finished in double figures in all 12 games for the Aggies this season, and in each of her last 20 games overall dating back to last year, averaging 18.2 ppg (364 overall) and shooting .574 (143-for-249) from the floor in that span.

FOUR!: With Bertsch's game-high 20 points (her fourth 20-point game of the year and the 14th of her career) leading the way, the Aggies finished with four players in double figures in Wednesday night's win at UCF, keeping UC Davis perfect at 6-0 when it has four-or-more players in double digits. In fact, UC Davis has won its last 14 games (including a 7-0 mark last year) when it has four-or-more players finish in double figures dating back to a, 73-70, loss to San Francisco on Dec. 2, 2014.

SOPHIA'S SONG: And what a sweet tune it has been over the last three games for the Monterey Park, Calif., native. Entering the game at Sacramento State game with a combined eight points in her previous six games, freshman Sophia Song has been singing a different melody offensively in her last three contests, setting and tying a career high with 13 points against Sacramento State and San Francisco, respectively, while putting together a 12-point night on a career-high four three-pointers at UCF on Wednesday. Song is averaging 12.7 ppg over her last three, shooting .545 from the floor (12-for-22) and .583 (7-for-12) from beyond the arc.

SWAT TEAM: When it comes to patrolling the paint, not many have done it better than the Aggies' tandem of Bertsch and junior Marly Anderson, who have combined for 42 of the team's 54 swats thus far this season. Bertsch leads the way with 25 blocks overall and has tallied at least one block in each of UC Davis' first 12 games -- including a career high-tying four against Saint Mary's (Dec. 11) and Sacramento State (Dec. 18), and eight games with two or more -- while Anderson has at least one block in 10 of the team's 12 games and is second on the team with 17 overall, including three in wins over Montana State and San Diego State.

RECORD CHASING: With her two blocks against UCF on Wednesday, Bertsch increased her career total to 61, ranking her fourth on the school's career list in the Division I Era and moving her past Jessica Campbell (2003-06, 2007-08) into 10th place on the program's all-time list, just three back of Kari Sivesind (1992-96) for ninth.

GIANOTTI ROLLING: Fresh off her second double-double of the season at San Francisco a week earlier, junior Pele Gianotti shined on Wednesday night at UCF, scoring 15 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and setting a career high with five assists, in the win over the Knights -- her third straight game in double digits. Gianotti is averaging 12.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game during that stretch, while shooting a blistering .737 (14-for-19) from the floor.

SHE CAN DISH IT OUT: Junior Dani Nafekh has solidified her hold on second place on the school's Division I list for career assists with 239, ranking behind only Hana Asano (278) on that list, and moving her closer to Jessica Campbell (274) for 10th on the all-time chart, needing just 35 more to match the all-time Aggie great. Nafekh is only the fifth player in the program's Division I history to reach 200 assists, joining Asano, Blair Shinoda (223), Alyson Doherty (214), and Celia Marfone (206).

DOUBLE DIGIT DANI: Showcasing a scoring ability not often seen in her first two seasons, Nafekh has reached double figures in 10 of the her 12 games this year, missing the remaining two by a single point at No. 11 Stanford on Dec. 4 and at San Francisco on Dec. 21. Ranked second on the team in scoring at 13.0 ppg entering Friday's game at Jacksonville, Nafekh had hit double figures just six times COMBINED in her first two seasons, averaging 4.8 ppg.

KARLEY BREAKS INTO THE LINEUP: With teammate Rachel Nagel sidelined due to injury, UC Davis sophomore Karley Eaton made her first career start on Wednesday night at UCF, finishing with five points and a pair of rebounds in 15 minutes. Appearing in 30 of the team's 32 games last season, Karley had come off the bench in each of her first 41 games as an Aggie until Wednesday night's win against the Knights.

SPEAKING OF LINEUPS: With Karley's start, Wednesday marked only the third different starting lineup used by Head Coach Jennifer Gross this season.

ONE FOR YOU... AND ONE FOR YOU: Led by six assists from Nafekh and five apiece from Gianotti and Kourtney Eaton, the Aggies finished with 24 assists on their 31 makes against UCF on Wednesday -- the second highest single-game total for UC Davis this season, trailing only the 26 helpers against Sacramento State on Dec. 18. The Aggies have topped 20 assists five times this season, just three shy of last season's total.

TOP-10 TOTALS: Bertsch's 27 points against San Francisco places her in a tie for seventh on the school's Division I single-game scoring list -- the second Aggie to make the top 10 this season after junior teammate Dani Nafekh scored 28 points against San Diego State on Dec. 2 to move into a tie for fourth. The Division I record is 29 points accomplished three times by Jessica Campbell (at San Francisco in 2007) and Sydnee Fipps (against Long Beach State in 2013 and again versus UC Riverside in 2015). The all-time record is 36 points set by Aimee Conner at Chico State on Feb. 20, 1993.

AND THE POINTS JUST KEPT ON COMING: UC Davis' 110 points scored in its win over Causeway rival Sacramento State on Dec. 18 set a new single-game scoring standard in the Aggies' Division I Era, surpassing the 102 points scored at San Jose State almost six years ago to the day on Dec. 21, 2010. The point total stands second only to the 117 scored at Metro State during the program's Division II days on Nov. 13, 1998, while the 56 points in the first half against the Hornets set the school's Division I record for points in a half, surpassing the 54 scored in the first half against the Spartans.

LUCKY SEVEN: According to game-by-game records that date back to the 1991-92 season, the seven players in double figures against Sacramento State are the most in the single game during that stretch. Six times in that period the Aggies finished with six players with 10-or-more points, the last coming against Stanislaus State on Feb. 18, 2000, in an, 88-75, UC Davis win at home.
