PROVO, Utah - Senior Stephanie Stamates and junior Katy Nogaki each scored 9.850 in the opening rotation to tie for second place on balance beam, propelling UC Davis to a season-best 194.750 in a collegiate women's gymnastics triangular meet at Smith Fieldhouse Friday night.

No. 13 Boise State won the meet at 196.425 while host BYU pulled ahead of the Aggies with a second-place total of 195.475.

Stamates hit 9.850 for the second straight week in the No. 5 slot in the beam lineup, then Nogaki matched it to surpass her previous career high of 9.800, set in last week's home opener and at the 2014 NorCal meet. Senior Dani Judal added a 9.800 to tie for fourth place overall, while Alexis Brown turned a 9.775 in the beam rotation en route to the team's 48.950 in the event.

Stamates followed that with a 9.825 on floor exercise, matching sophomore teammate Amanda Presswood for the team best to take part in a six-way tie for third in the meet standings. The season-high 48.925 team floor score pulled the Aggies ahead of the host Cougars, 97.875-97.775, while the Broncos took a slim edge of 97.950. Judal and freshman Kara Jones began the second rotation with 9.750 scores, then sophomore Miranda Holder nailed a 9.775 to tie her career high for the second consecutive week.

The Aggies followed with a 48.625 on vault, with Nogaki (9.800) and junior Yonni Michovska (9.725) scoring season-best marks. Holder also notched a 2016 high of 9.700, her best since going 9.775 in last year's season opener. Brown's 9.725 and freshman Yasmine Yektaparast's 9.675 helped round out a solid team total, but BYU made up the one-tenth deficit to pull into a tie with UC Davis at 146.500 through three rotations. Meanwhile, Boise State scored a 49.175 to extend its lead to 147.125.

Judal wrapped up a strong three-event program with her 9.775 on uneven bars. Brown anchored that lineup at 9.700 while sophomore Rachel Kreager posted a 9.675 in only her second time in the lineup. Kreager had scored as high as 9.750 in exhibition as a freshman two years ago. The Aggies compiled a 48.250 on bars.

Boise State's Ann Stockwell dominated the vault competition with a 9.925 while her 9.875 led a first-through-fifth Bronco sweep on uneven bars. BYU's Makenzie Johnson Halliday edged the Aggie tandem of Stamates and Nogaki for the beam title, while tying Boise's Shani Remme for the all-around title at 39.250. The Broncos' Sandra Collantes ran away with the floor gold at 9.925, well ahead of teammate Maddie Krentz' 9.850 and a full tenth in front of the sizable tie for third.

The Aggies' 194.750 team total ranks seventh all-time among road scores and exceeds last week's 194.325 for the 2016 high. UC Davis returns to action for a road dual at Sacramento State on January 29.
