RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- UC Davis senior Christine Hoffmann finished third overall and was the second Division I runner across the line in the women's 6K, while senior Trevor Halsted crossed the line in 11th place for the men, as the Aggies finished second and fourth, respectively, on Saturday morning at the 35th annual UC Riverside Invitational.

The women finished behind only nationally ranked No. 9 Arkansas in the team standings, finishing with 86 points and four runners among the top 25, outdistancing UC Santa Barbara (128), UC Riverside (135), Long Beach State (255), and CSUN (278), among Big West Conference teams. The Razorbacks placed all five of their scorers among the top 10 and finished the meet with 27 points.

Hoffmann crossed the line with a time of 20:40.1 to finish behind Southwestern's Aminat Olowora (20:28.8) and Arkansas' Devin Clark (20:39.0). Senior Erika Barr also posted a top-10 finish, crossing in a collegiate-best 6K time of 20:57.7 to finish 10th, while junior Rianna Goins (21:37.7) in 22nd and senior Katie Fry (21:39) in 24th finished among the top 25.

Barr's previous fastest 6K time was a 21:10.2 at last season's conference championships.

Senior Nicole Lane in 31st rounded out the Aggies' scorers, finishing with a time of 22:00.2. Freshman Muna Alhamad (22:29.0) in 51st, junior Clara MacLeod (22:36.2) in 57th, freshman Katherine Gallaher (22:43.6) in 63rd, and junior Olivia Goins (23:23.8) in 79th, rounded out the UC Davis contingent.

On the men's side, the Aggies finished with 117 points led by Halsted's time of 24:38.6, standing third among Division I teams behind Southern Utah (44), which was ranked No. 6 in the USTFCCCA's preseason Mountain Region poll, and defending Big West champion UC Santa Barbara (72), which was ranked no. 9 in the west. Halsted was joined by classmate Cody Nguyen in the top 15, as the senior finished with his collegiate 8K-best time of 24:42.4 to end up 15th.

Nguyen's previous 8K best was a 25:18.0 at the WCC Preview on Sept. 13 of last season.

Sophomore Austin Goins was the next UC Davis runner across the line, finishing 30th in a collegiate best time of 24:59.0, while seniors Jordon Rushing (25:25.5) and Nick Ratto (25:31.2) crossed in 50th and 53rd, respectively, to complete the Aggies' scoring pack.

Senior Patrick Fitzgerald (25:41.4) finished 65th and junior Luke Dorman (26:45.1) in 128th rounded out the UC Davis group.

The Aggies now take two weeks off before their next meet, sending both the men's and women's squads to the Stanford Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 26).
