DAVIS, Calif. - Kelly Zboralske's third-inning home run gave UC Davis the lead for good in the first of two Big West games that took place Saturday afternoon at La Rue Field. After collecting a 4-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton, the Aggies scored first in the following matchup, but fell to the Titans by a 3-1 score.

UC Davis will enter Sunday's 12 p.m. rubber game with an 18-27 overall and 6-11 Big West record, Cal State Fullerton will return to action with records of 31-21 and 9-8. That game will also mark the final appearance at La Rue Field for Krista Bava, Jasmine Lee and Amy Nunez - three Aggies who will graduate next month.

Even though Cal State Fullerton was the first to score in Gm. 1 when Courtney Rodriguez hit a RBI double to center in the top of the third, UC Davis also scored its inaugural runs in the bottom half of that same inning.

By hitting a single to second base and center field respectively, Christa Castello and Nunez were on base when Zboralske strolled to the plate with two outs. On a 2-1 count, Zboralske turned on a pitch from Fullerton starter Cerissa Rivera and recorded her second home run of the season once the ball landed on the opposite side of the fence in left center.

That swing gave UC Davis a 3-1 lead - an advantage that remained in its favor until the end of the game.

Zboralske's blast took place one inning after the Aggies squelched a Cal State Fullerton scoring opportunity with a beautiful play at the plate.

After hitting a double in the Titans' half of the second inning, Melissa Sechrest tried to score the first run of the game when Deylynn Rippy hit a single of her own to right field. Instead of giving her team the lead, Sechrest recorded the final out of the frame at the plate.

Immediately after scooping up Rippy's hit, Lee immediately threw the ball towards home once she saw that Sechrest rounded third and wanted to test her arm. Lee passed with flying colors because her throw, one that landed perfectly in Katie Robertson's mitt without a bounce, beat Sechrest to the plate by four steps.

Two innings after Zboralske's shot, UC Davis padded its lead by scoring again in the fifth inning thanks to Lee's head-up baserunning.

Originally reaching base on a leadoff single down the left field line, Lee advanced to second on Castello's sacrifice bunt. When a chopper from Brianna Warner bounced through the legs of Titan second baseman Samantha Galarza, Lee saw what took place, did not break stride and headed home.

Throwing with a lead once she returned to the circle in the top of the fourth, UC Davis starter Leah Munden did not allow a hit throughout the final four innings and captured her career-high 10th victory of the season.

In the following game, UC Davis struck first when Nunez circled the bases on Lauryn Saunders' triple in the bottom of the third.

Down 1-0, Cal State Fullerton responded by plating one run in each of the following three innings to secure a split of the day's games.
