RADIO: KDVS 90.3 FM
Game Coverage: Live Stats | Audio | Sacramento State Notes

Probable Starters:
Sacramento State: LHP Jake Stassi (0-4, 5.84 ERA in 2015)
UC Davis: RHP TBA

FIRST PITCH: After having its season-best seven-game winning streak snapped in Hawai'i, the UC Davis baseball team (19-10-1 overall, 3-3 in the Big West Conference) looks to begin anew this week, opening a five-game homestand with a midweek clash against Causeway rival Sacramento State on Tuesday (April 7) at 2:30 p.m. at Dobbins Stadium.

LOOKING AHEAD: Following Tuesday's game, the Aggies return to Big West play this weekend, jumping feet first into a three-game series against conference "blue blood" Cal State Fullerton on April 10-12 at Dobbins Stadium. First pitch against the Titans is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

ABOUT THE HORNETS: Sacramento State heads into the weekend with a 17-13 overall record and a 6-3 mark in the Western Athletic Conference following a three-game sweep at the hands of Seattle last week... Prior to that, the Hornets had won four straight and seven of their previous eight... Junior outfielder Nathan Lukes leads all regulars with a .389 average to go along with eight extra-base hits and 17 RBI... Senior shortstop Scotty Burcham leads the team with four triples and 26 runs scored, hitting .296 and driving in 14... Tuesday's probable starter, senior left-hander Jake Stassi, is scheduled to take the mound for his fifth start of the year, posting an 0-4 record and a 5.84 ERA in just over 12 innings of work this season... The Hornets are hitting .258 as a team, having outscored opponents 127-100, while the staff has allowed just a .224 average to opposing batters in 30 games.

SERIES NOTES: According to available records that date back to 1960, Sacramento State leads the all-time series with UC Davis by a count of 107-83-3, and a 12-8 mark during the Division I era... The Aggies snapped an eight-game losing streak to their Causeway rivals thanks to a 6-3 victory at Raley Field on May 13 of last season... UC Davis is just 3-7 at home against Sacramento State since making the jump to Division I, having lost the last four meetings at Dobbins Stadium dating back to a 1-0 victory on Feb. 20, 2011 in the second game of a doubleheader to open the season... A win Tuesday would five the Aggies back-to-back wins in the series since March 5-6, 2010, when UC Davis took home wins of 11-3 and 13-2.

MIDWEEK SUCCESS: UC Davis enters Tuesday's clash with Sacramento State sporting a 5-2 mark in midweek games thus far this season, having won its last three against Nevada (10-4 on March 10), San Francisco (1-0 on March 24), and Saint Mary's (11-2 on March 31). The Aggies are hitting .260 as a team and outscoring opponents 39-22 in those seven games, while the pitching staff has posted a 2.76 ERA and a .247 average against in 62 innings of work.

UC DAVIS BASEBALL "SHORT HOPS"
· Tuesday marks the first of two meetings between Causeway Cup rivals on the diamond this season. However, the Aggies have already laid claim to the 2014-15 edition of the Causeway Cup, clinching the trophy with their win in women's gymnastics on Feb. 27. UC Davis has won each of the last three Causeway Cups and seven of 11 overall dating back to the inaugural season of the head-to-head competition between the two rivals in 2004-05...
· The Aggies suffered their first series loss of the year in seven chances last weekend in Honolulu, salvaging the final game of a four-game set with Hawai'i by a 4-0 score. UC Davis had been 5-0-1 in its previous six series to kick-off the 2015 campaign...
· The 4-0 shutout of Hawai'i was the third for the Aggies this season -- the most since the 2012 team finished with six...
· Tino Lipson had his team-best 13-game hitting streak snapped on Saturday in Hawai'i -- the longest by an Aggie since Kevin Barker had a hit in 13 straight games from April 11-May 9, 2014...
· Junior right-hander Max Cordy remained unbeaten on the season (7-0) after nailing down a 4-0 win in Sunday's non-conference series finale at Hawai'i, posting the most wins by an Aggie pitcher since Dayne Quist finished 7-4 during the 2010 campaign. Cordy leads the Big West and is tied with six others for the top spot in the NATION with his seven victories...
· The eight innings by Cordy on Sunday is tied for his longest outing of the year, matching his performance against Eastern Michigan back on Feb. 24...
· Cordy has now won his last four starts, posting a 2.53 ERA, scattering just 19 hits, and striking out 22 against only four walks...
· You'd have to go all the way back to UC Davis' first Division I season in 2008 to find a pitcher with at least eight wins in a single season. That honor is held by Brad McAtee, who finished 8-5 in 15 starts with a 3.18 ERA to help lead the Aggies to their inaugural NCAA regional berth...
· Combining on the Aggies 4-0 shutout of Hawai'i was sophomore closer Zach Stone, who surrendered only his second run of the year back in game three of the series with the Rainbow Warriors. Stone, a candidate for the NCBWA's "Stopper of the Year Award," has yet to allow an EARNED run in 17.2 innings of work, striking out 20 against only one walk while posting a 2-0 record with six saves...
· Offensively, senior infielder Nick Lynch rides a team-best seven-game hitting streak into Tuesday's contest, batting .400 (10-for-25) with eight runs scored, four doubles, and four RBI, in that span...
· Two of those doubles for Lynch came in last weekend's series against Hawai'i, bringing his season total to 19 in that category -- leading the Big West and ranking No. 1 in the NATION. He is tied for seventh on the school's single-season list with his 19 doubles, standing five shy of Jim Saunders' (1979) season record of 24...
· UC Davis leads the Big West, and ranks No. 12 in the NATION, with its 72 doubles this season (UC Santa Barbara is second with 49) -- standing just three shy of its total from all of last year. Overall, the Aggies lead the Big West with 86 extra-base hits, edging out second-place UC Irvine, which has 71 entering the week...
· Aside from his league-leading doubles total, Lynch also leads the Big West in average (.385), slugging (.633), and on-base percentage (.489) entering the week, while standing tied for the top spot in hits (42), leading the conference in runs (30) and total bases (69), second in hit by pitch (11), and tied for seventh in RBI (21)...
· The Aggies are the highest-scoring team in the Big West entering the week with 181 runs scored, ranking second in team average (.290) and on-base percentage (.382), and third in slugging (.392)...
· UC Davis also paces the league -- and ranks No. 2 in the NATION -- in being hit by a pitch 57 times this season, placing three among the conference's top in individually in that category: Nick Lynch (2nd, 11); Kevin Barker (3rd, 10); Austin March (T7th, seven)...
· Stolen bases have been a forte of the Aggies' offense all year, leading the league -- and ranking No. 4 in the NATION -- entering the week with 79 steals in 105 attempts overall...

Lipson ranks No. 8, while Barker is No. 13, in the NATION in that category entering the week...
· The Aggies need four more wins to match their total from all of last year (23) and four more Big West victories to equal their 2015 campaign (seven)...
