FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- UC Davis freshman Solie Laughlin finished 21st overall and qualified for the "C" Final in the 400 IM to highlight the Aggies' efforts on day two of the AT&T Winter Nationals at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington, on Friday.

Competing against some of the world's best in a long-course meter format (as opposed to the short-course yards that are used at the college level), Laughlin touched in a time of 4:56.11 to punch her ticket into one of three finals for the event, closing out the day by finishing seventh in the "C" final with a time of 4:56.70, which translates to a time of 4:21.53 in short-course yards.

Laughlin's preliminary time converts to a mark of 4:21.00 in short-course yards and represents the fastest time by an Aggie swimming this season in the event, shaving nearly seven-tenths off her previous best time of 4:21.66 set at the Phill Hansel Invitational on Nov. 20.

The freshman from Ventura, California, who has already posted U.S. Olympic Trial qualifying times in both backstroke distances this season, also competed in the 100 back on Friday, finishing 40th overall with a time of 1:03.76, which converts to a short-course yards time of 56.36 -- her third-fastest time in the event this season.

Junior Elise Roberts posted her best time of the season in the 100 breast, finishing 59th in the meet with a time of 1:13.57 which, converted to short-course yards, equates to a time of 1:04.47 -- the fourth-fastest time by an Aggie in the event this season. Senior Hailey Ferko finished 70th overall in the same event with a time of 1:14.91, which adds up to a short-course time of 1:05.68.

Junior Hilvy Cheung wrapped up the UC Davis contingent with a 42nd-place finish in the 100 fly, touching in a time of 1:02.08 -- a mark that converts to a season-best short-course yards time of 54.66 -- besting her previous season-low of 55.37 set at Nevada on Oct. 30. The time was a mere .17 off the NCAA "B" standard for 2015-16.

Action concludes on Saturday (Dec. 5), as Laughlin will compete in the 200m back, Cheung in the 200m fly, and Roberts in the 200m breaststroke.
