Jan. 15, 2015 DAVIS, Calif. - A total of 32 UC Davis student-athletes from five fall sports earned Big West Academic All-Conference honors, the league office announced Thursday morning. Eight Aggie honorees came from women's soccer, with six each from the sports of women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's cross country and men's cross country.
To be eligible for Big West All-Academic honors, student-athletes must hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, complete one full year at the member institution prior to the year for which the award is bestowed, and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests for that year.
From women's soccer, Lexi Poppoff picked up her third award while senior Charlotte Ellberg and juniors Sienna Drizin, Lindsey O'Tousa, Mari Pastor and Ana Marija Sola each garnered a second. Sophomores Nicole Bouvia and Zuzu Romano made the honor roll in their first years of eligibility.
From women's volleyball, seniors Megan Lancaster and Katie Quinn each made her third Academic All-Conference squad. Senior Valerie Brain and juniors Kaylin Squyres and Jillian Johnson picked up their second such accolades, while sophomore Aima Eichie scored her first honor.
The UC Davis men's soccer team had a fourth-time honoree in senior Ian Palmer, who redshirted his first academic year at the university. Senior Brian Ford claimed his third scholastic award, while juniors Andre Brown and Ryan Gross took down their second each. Junior Lucas Mohageg and sophomore Connor Willis-Hong made the All-Academic rolls for the first time. Ford is also a past Capitol One Academic All-District honoree.
Junior Erika Barr was the lone repeat honoree from women's cross country, snaring her second All-Academic nod. Senior Raquel Lambdin, junior Christine Hoffman and sophomores Rianna Goins, Hannah Kirkegaard and Clara MacLeod all made their first appearances on the fall rolls, although Hoffmann has previously won the honor in track & field.
